We are looking for a Lead to join our Accounting Department. This individual will actively participate in improving the accounting treatment, policies and processes surrounding Compass’ Title and Escrow entities, including post-acquisition integrations, and internal reporting. In addition, the successful candidate will help support a team responsible for overseeing the accounting, reporting, and policy making for the various Title and Escrow subsidiaries throughout Compass. The ideal candidate is someone who loves challenging opportunities, thrives in a dynamic environment and can consistently meet deadlines.

At Compass you will:

  • Aid in the month-end close process by posting journal entries & performing accruals across the various entities

  • Own the inter-company reconciliation process and align the process across the Title and Escrow group

  • Assist with coordinating and reconciling the periodic feeds of various ledgers into the consolidation system

  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly reporting package for the acquired entities

  • Assist with the monthly fluctuation analysis reviews

  • Prepare and review account analyses and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Maintain the integrity of the global chart of accounts and general ledger mapping from various accounting platforms

  • Work with various accounting teams across the Company to align accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements

  • Ensure all financial activities are in accordance with GAAP, FASB regulations and corporate policies

  • Identify accounting issues, research and summarize solutions, as well as communicate resolutions

  • Evaluate accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting procedures for continuous improvement opportunities

  • Coordinate with the internal and external auditors for audit and accounting-related requirements

  • Assist in the oversight over the escrow trust accounting process

  • Other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a plus

  • 5+ years of accounting experience

  • Big 4 experience, preferred

  • Basic knowledge of residential real estate, preferred

  • Experience working across multiple geographical entities

  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with cross functional teams

  • Excellent customer service and ability to work in a team environment

  • Strong analysis, problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet tight timelines

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy and a strong focus on continuous improvement

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • PC proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel

  • Experience with NetSuite, a plus
