Collect
On the web, WeTransfer solves a problem straightforwardly and elegantly. Big files aren’t a big deal on mobile, so we decided to do something different within the realm of WeTransfer, which is all about sharing creative work. We enable people to collect the content that’s on their phones and share them. Most apps operate in silos: your videos are on YouTube, images on Pinterest, music on Spotify, etc. We believe great things happen when these are combined and that’s what our new product does: it allows you to make mixed media boards with anything that’s on your phone.
The launch of our iOS app was a great first step but we are now working on a web app. And that’s why we need you.
Workflow
We believe that software is gardening. We trust each other to make good decisions and to provide (and accept) constructive feedback. Collaboration is the key to making a great product.
We want to build solutions that are long-lasting. This means writing code that is maintainable instead of quick fixes. Because our products are constantly changing, we believe our tech should be able to adapt. We believe that when code isn’t tested it’s legacy code and while we understand that it can take a lot of time and brainpower, it’s worth it.
We try to give back to the community by open-sourcing some of our tools.
The team 
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, which includes designers, PMs, and other developers, who will help take your ideas from implementation to production. Challenges you’ll work on
We are looking for someone to join our backend team with all things technical where your initial focus will be building on top and maintaining our Ruby stack. Your responsibilities will include exploring new technologies to solve old problems, building and designing APIs to enable our multiple clients, and operating resilient and scalable services.
Who are we looking for
Ruby is practically your second language (you know your Rspec from your Minitest, your Exception from your StandardError, your Symbol from your String, and your stabby lambda from your Proc). You love working with the language and have used it to solve interesting real-world problems. Helping others to improve their skills is something you enjoy and actively seek out to do.

    • If your experience is based in another language but you are willing to make Ruby your own – great!
    • Strong verbal and written communications skills (English).
    • Experience writing highly-scalable systems.
    • Experience in building cloud-based solutions.
    • Comfortable presenting own ideas to a team.
    • Even better if you have worked with languages other than Ruby (e.g., Go, Python, C or Haskell).
    • Contribution to Open Source projects will also be really appreciated (we’d love to see them!).

A note on remote
Covid has changed the world. Just as much as it changed us. While we can’t wait until offices re-open, being at the office will not be mandatory in the future. This way, you get the best from both worlds. That move is still pretty new for us though, we are getting there, we are writing more, doing more async communication, and are now ready to take it to the next level.
