The Chief of Staff (CoS) is responsible for meeting key strategic objectives by establishing and continuously improving organizational practices, processes, and systems. This position drives operational efficiency and effectiveness, leading cross-departmental efforts that will address key structural and strategic issues to move the organization forward.
The Chief of Staff will help develop and execute organizational strategy, in coordination with the CEO and Leadership Team, and ensure its timely and high quality implementation across every department. The Chief of Staff works to lead, assist and project-manage a variety of projects, including providing specific support to individual departments through transitions and challenges.

At BookNook, You Will:

    • Develop, maintain and manage systems to provide optics on organizational health and progress toward goals.
    • Synthesize, analyze and manage data provided by different teams within BookNook to help leaders understand what is happening in key functions.
    • At the request of the CEO or other leadership team members manage special projects.
    • Provide interim support during times of transition for leadership team members.
    • Serve as the liaison between the Company and the Board of Directors
    • Serve as the liaison between the Company and Investors and provide excellent Investor Relations
    • In partnership with internal stakeholders, facilitate M&A activities
    • Manage strategic partnerships with external partners to support business initiatives
    • Serve as an advisor to the CEO and other members of leadership, providing thought partnership on critical issues and opportunities for the company.
    • Ensure organizational policies are defined and followed, specifically with regard to decision-making and processes.
    • Serve as the facilitator of Leadership Team meetings, gathering agenda items, compiling materials, and, with the CEO, setting the decision-making agenda.
    • Meet regularly with the CEO and other Leadership Team members to review status of projects, plan key events/meetings and prioritize open action items.
    • Discuss, gather and synthesize feedback on key issues from organization leaders to inform the Leadership Team and CEO in decision-making.

You are a good fit for this role if you have:

    • 5+ years of experience in an executive-level cross-functional role.
    • A track record of getting things done that other people would think impossible.
    • Deep knowledge of the K12 education landscape.
    • Exemplary presentation skills and a knack for simplifying complex ideas.
    • Not just comfort with constant change and strategic ambiguity, but an enthusiasm for tackling those situations to move organizations forward.
    • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills and a knack for building consensus for difficult decisions.
    • Experience in edtech, govtech, or a related industry preferred.
    • Been part of a startup during rapid growth and have seen what it takes to navigate inflection points of rapid growth preferred.
    • Experience grant writing and/or fundraising for schools or NGOs preferred.
