About the Chief of Staff role

This role reports directly to the CEO.

  • Work with Clovyr’s co-founders, especially CEO Amber Baldet, to scale the company
  • Learn about the challenges our products address and ensure everything we do aligns positive business outcomes with positive user experiences
  • Organize, prioritize, and execute strategic and special projects, whether glamorous or gritty
  • Constantly build yourself out of a job, so you can move on to the next thing
  • Create and update spreadsheets that drive financial & other reports
  • Derive insights from a variety of vendor & internal systems
  • Assist in creating presentation materials for Board meetings
  • Ensure the CEO is well prepared for meetings, both internal and external
  • Occasionally schedule meetings, from a simple calendar invite to complex in-person events

  • Ideally, you live within commuting distance of our Downtown Brooklyn HQ.
  • While we are a remote-first team, both co-founders work from the office approximately 25% of the time and occasionally you may need to join us
  • Working full-time from the Brooklyn office is possible, if desired

  • Proactive, high-energy, and detail-oriented
  • Deeply thrilled by making & checking off to-do lists
  • Full of positive vibes in the face of overwhelming odds
  • Great at listening and talking to people from all walks of life
  • Not afraid to reach out to stakeholders, from investors to customers
  • A straight-shooter, not afraid to speak truth to power (without condescending!)

And you take pride in:

  • Writing well for both formal and casual audiences
  • Bringing concurrent, disparate projects to conclusion
  • Building and using spreadsheets (with vlookups, pivottables, charts, etc.)
  • Making high-impact presentations that follow a style guide
  • Digging into any provider platform (e.g. QuickBooks, Breezy, GitLab, Metabase) and figuring out how to get more out of it
  • Finding the signal in the noise, whether it’s a data set, the latest business management book, or a conference call

The best candidates probably have:

  • An MBA or equivalent experience
  • Equivalent experience might mean prior work in management consulting, at another early stage startup, or running your own successful business. If you know how to extrapolate a quarterly budget from a P&L report and understand the basics of corporate accounting, you’re good
  • 3+ years hands-on experience in a fast paced environments, any industry
