The X-Team Community is the heart of the X-Team experience. For nearly 15 years, we’ve been dedicated to building the most energizing community for developers, and as you’ll see on our Glassdoor, we’ve been quite successful at it.

While the community prides itself in having a lot of their own ownership to run the community, a Community Manager is needed to help coordinate weekly/monthly events and keep the community moving forward by listening to its needs each and every day.

The community is broken into Houses, much like Game of Thrones or Harry Potter. The Community Manager is responsible for sitting in the middle of those Houses to help coordinate engagement between them, whether it be a competition or a charity drive.

Here are some responsibilities you can expect to take on in this highly engaging role:

Season Management
Seasons are our community framework. They are 2-3 month experiences centered around an inspiring theme. With each new Season comes new personal challenges to take on, collectible gear X-Teamers can earn by doing those challenges, weekly events to get energized by, and a ton more.

You will help bring these Seasons to life and assist in their execution.

Weekly & Monthly Events
Every Thursday, we host a competition in the community among the Houses of X-Team; past competitions include step tracker races, arcade game competitions, virtual escape room timed challenges, photography challenges, cycling distance competition, chess, Slack-based battle royales, the list goes on.

The key is bringing the Houses together each week to compete and have fun together, and your role is in hyping up those events, and planning and organizing them to keep the energy levels always high in X-Team.

We also host Monthly Events, which are “Cons” like LegoCon, a monthly event where X-Teamers can get reimbursed for a Lego set that they must build before the month ends and share with the community.

Unleash+ Editor
Unleash+ is a unique perk which gives every X-Teamer $2,500 per year to spend on anything that energizes them (movies, games, sports, gear, desks, chairs, see more on x-team.com/join).

Think of yourself as the “Editor” of the Unleash+ newsletter, as you’ll be helping X-Teamers to find epic ways to spend their budget. You’ll find awesome gear for their home office, fitness needs, gaming, etc. You’ll always be keeping a pulse on the best and latest gear to recommend to them each week.

Bounties Editor

Bounties are what generate inspiring and motivating content in the X-Team community. Bounties are challenges designed to energize X-Teamers, such as “Hike to the highest peak in your current city.” Each Bounty comes with a reward, which allows you to purchase items in The Vault, which is our exclusive collectibles store filled with epic X-Team gear.

Most Bounties are created by the community itself, but you’ll be helping improve the Bounties they make, promoting the best ones, and also help filling in the gaps for ongoing Bounties that we want to always be there, as well as come up with unique Bounties that fit the theme of the current Season we’re in.

This is just a taste of the role, as ultimately you can craft the role to be something even beyond this as you start to get to know the community and what would make it a more energizing experience than it already is. This role is often changing with each new Season, meaning you’ll never get bored. This is a collaborative and independent role and can really become whatever you dream it to be, so long as it fulfills our high level goal of keeping the community energized.
