The Controller is a highly visible role, reporting to the CEO,  interacting across departments with senior leadership as well as having exposure to our board of directors.  The ideal candidate is a strong leader with experience in building and growing teams. The right candidate will drive continuous process improvement, bring a quantitative, data-driven mindset, and have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Please note! Due to the critical impact to the business and to support the growth of our Finance/Accounting teams, we are seeking to hire within the Southern California area for this role. Relocation assistance will be considered for strong candidates that are not local / near the LA area.

What you’ll do

    • Lead accounting function and teams, including day to day operations, and month end closing
    • Oversee and lead necessary process and system improvements to scale to the next level
    • Owns the end-to-end revenue cycle, to be in accordance with ASC 606
    • Analyze and drive financial data and reporting towards solutions and/or recommendations
    • Works with FP&A team on monthly forecasts against budgets, including cash flow projections; treasury function
    • Own and oversee revenue accounting ensuring compliance of revenue
    • Oversee and lead necessary process and system improvements to scale to the next level
    • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Who we’re looking for

    • Degree in Accounting; 10+ years of accounting experience and leadership
    • CPA required
    • Start-up experience is required (preferably in SaaS)
    • Proven track record of success with establishing, managing, and evolving accounting policies and procedures in high growth startup companies
    • Demonstrated experience in a fast paced environment with the ability to multitask, think creatively and learn quickly while being extremely detailed with a high sense of urgency
    • Experienced with being proactive, self-directed, and problem solving
    • Strong technical accounting knowledge with an understanding of US GAAP and ability to document accounting conclusions
    • Experienced with an ERP system
    • Proven experience bringing accounting in-house from an external firm
    • Experienced in developing, mentoring, and inspiring a high performing professional accounting team
    • Proficiency in Excel, required

    • Mix of public and private accounting experience is a plus
    • Experience with Quickbooks is a plus
    • Intermediate to Advanced Excel experience is a plus
    • Experience at a self-service SaaS company
