This role will be responsible for the revenue recognition and accounts receivable team and related processes. This role will be in a position to help identify and direct process improvements and data integrity throughout the company related to revenue and upstream processes. The candidate must have strong understanding of US GAAP and applicable revenue guidance (ASC 606) as well as a strong understanding of controls.
What you will be doing:
Support the monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close processes and preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
Manage the day-to-day activities of the revenue accounting team to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Work directly with the revenue accounting team and other necessary departments to ensure revenue transaction are properly accounted for, including being responsible for the audit of transactional and summary reports, research, explain and document variance explanations.
Calculate and support the deferred revenue and related balances.
Monitor AR receivable balances, including determining necessary reserves.
Implement, maintain and monitor the revenue tracking software ensuring data completeness and accuracy.
Calculate and own RPO, GAAP revenue, and other revenue related metrics
Assess and determined appropriate revenue recognition treatment on all revenue streams, unique contracts, partnerships, and consortium or channel relationships
Partner with other departments on review of contracts prior to close to guide on relevant revenue recognition considerations.
Own and oversee the sales rep commission calculation and appropriate accounting of such commissions under ASC 606
Determine appropriate accounting treatment related to lease activity and oversee 842 lease accounting
Assist with internal audits, annual external audit, and quarterly reviews.
Drive process improvement throughout the company as it relates to revenue and related processes (i.e. efficiency and data accuracy)
Responsible for developing and documenting revenue accounting policy documents, including working with external auditor and internal audit teams to review/update.
Evaluate new sales offerings to determine and document the proper accounting treatment and ensure the revenue system is configured appropriately.
Help develop and maintain a strong accounting team through training, coaching, managing workloads and fostering a positive work environment.
Develop and manage revenue related internal controls
Here’s what you will need to know/have:
Master’s degree in accounting (MACC)
CPA License
Minimum 7-8 years related experience
Minimum 5+ years with a Big 4 accounting firm
Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (specifically related to revenue) and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
Strong analytical and accounting skills
Ability to coach and manage a team
Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
Ability to quickly learn and improve complex processes
Attention to detail
Effective communication skills
Advanced skills in MS Excel

Who You’ll Work With
This role will have director-level ownership of the revenue function within the accounting group and thus will work directly with the revenue team and other members of the general accounting team. This role will also work closely with various other departments, such as FP&A, Account management, Services, ES, Deal Desk, Rev Ops, and Sales.
