Nira is looking for several Engineering Managers who will be responsible for coordinating and scaling fast-paced, 100% remote and distributed engineering teams. You are someone who leads by example and by contribution. You are essential to engineering projects being completed on time and to the required specifications. As an engineering leader you will play a key role in your team’s growth and in our plans to expand the footprint of how our clients integrate our technology into their businesses.

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll build and lead a diverse and inclusive team of engineers working on backend data processing infrastructure (Python/Go/PostGres/AWS) and/or frontend-fullstack application development (React/Typescript/GraphQL), depending on your experience
  • Facilitate technical research, planning, prioritization and staffing for projects
  • Collaborate across teams to plan, build, deliver, and support product features
  • Do technical work 20-40% of the time – could be code/review, architecture/design, systems
  • Mentor and coach to grow the talent of your team

Job requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • You’ve managed high performing engineering teams, typically across 3-4 concurrent squads of 4-5 engineers each
  • You’ve designed and built distributed data processing systems at a meaningful scale and/or designed and built enterprise-class modern web applications
  • You’re able to make effective decisions even when details are limited but analyse and summarise effectively when there’s a large volume of information
  • You’ve successfully managed fully remote and geographically distributed high performance engineering teams to deliver notable product/platform iterations
  • You’ve been involved in recruitment/selection, onboarding, career development, performance management and transition activities for the team(s) you have managed
  • You’re able to effectively balance speed/quality/tech debt and make engineering decisions that deliver rapid results
  • You’re willing to do whatever it takes, even if this means working outside of your role (occasional out of hours to sync across timezones, backend help frontend, frontend help backend, handle customer support, etc)
