What Is Employee Growth Rate & Why Is It Important?

We are looking for a passionate Engineering Manager to bring Pulumi’s cloud programming model to the world. You will be a part of realizing a vision where every developer can program the cloud.

As an engineering manager for Pulumi’s open source platform, you will own the process and end-to-end delivery of new features and products for our customers. Pulumi resides at the intersection of source code management, cloud consoles, and CI/CD systems, and provides the opportunity to deeply influence the way developers and DevOps engineers create and manage cloud software. The open source team is responsible for everything from the Pulumi CLI to the Pulumi programming model to the cloud SDKs. You will define the vision and engineering roadmap for your team in addition to collaborating with product management to design, scope, and plan the products and features for the Pulumi Platform.

Location: Remote – USA. Pulumi is headquartered in Seattle, WA.

In This Job You Will:

  • Manage the engineering process, working with product, executives, and engineers to set realistic deadlines, and keep us on track to meet our deliverables.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop an engineering team.
  • Own the roadmap and prioritization of efforts across your team.
  • Be a steward and active member of the Pulumi open source community.
  • Pitch in as a developer when necessary: writing code, reviewing code and design proposals, etc.
  • Work cross-functionally with project stakeholders to turn engineering effort into customer value.
  • Turn strategy and ideas into delivered results.
  • Own accountability for communication and execution around product delivery goals across teams.
  • Keep current on the latest software engineering methodologies, choosing what’s best to meet Pulumi’s product goals.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Have:

  • At least 5 years of engineering management overseeing senior software engineering teams.
  • Deep understanding of DevOps and developer tools.
  • Superior project management skills, with successful experiences delivering complex engineering projects on time and on budget.
  • Comfort with building and iterating on both Open Source and Enterprise products.
  • Experience with all/some of the following: Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services, Azure, Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
