About: Prophet Exchange is a peer-to-peer sports betting exchange where users can set prices for others to bet on, or place bets on the price already available. Sportsbooks have fixed odds, high margins, and severely limit / remove bettors, all problems Prophet solves with its peer-to-peer backend technology. Prophet is an intermediary and never profits off their users’ losses – Prophet only collects commission on their wins.

To help support our rapidly growing team, we are looking for someone to join our finance group. As a Financial Planning and Analysis Associate, you will be a part of the finance team, collaborating with each of our respective business teams (Marketing, Operations, Product, Customer Experience, and Analytics). You will be responsible for analyzing customer trends and you will help make decisions on where we allocate our spend and who we look to specifically target. You will also be responsible for monitoring our marketing budget per jurisdiction as well as putting together reports that highlight KPIs on the platform, as well as overseeing the budgets of the respective business units within the overall team. To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who is not only analytically sound and proficient in excel, but also personable and communicative as you will be working with numerous third parties.

The Role:

  • Provide robust reporting to support our monthly actuals analysis and forecasting, and annual budgeting processes
  • Analyze data used by the business to ensure concepts are delivered as meaningful, comprehensible analytics
  • Execute monthly accounting close procedures for multiple entities (reconciliation, journal entries, and analysis)
  • Provide strategic analysis and insights to understand drivers of key performance indicators
  • Analyze and track results relating to year-on-year growth, performance to budget and forecast across a broad range of metrics in support of the business.
  • Provide reports, processes, and illustrations on important trends on our customer behavior
  • Partner with leadership to provide corporate & operational analysis and innovative ideas to help achieve the overall growth and performance strategy.
  • Perform as needed analysis to understand changes in key metrics
  • Ensure consistent management reporting and confidence in the accuracy and integrity of the internal financials
  • Analyze data sets, identify, and understand impacts to business, and develop recommendations

Qualifications

  • Ability to quickly learn
  • BA/BS degree in finance, economics, or business
  • 1 year or more of investment banking experience OR Public or Big 4 accounting firm experience
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • 1-2 years of forecasting and variance analysis
  • Experience working with large data sets
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to effectively interact with senior management in a dynamic environment
  • Prior experience in a similar role highly preferred
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work on small teams
  • A fearlessness to contribute ideas to the team
  • Ability to build well thought out PowerPoint decks to tell the story on complex business issues

  1. Photograph and Physical Description: for security and internal identification purposes and to identify employees to co-workers and third parties.
  2. Medical Information: (a) to the extent necessary to comply with the Company’s legal obligations, such as to accommodate disabilities; (b) to conduct a direct threat analysis in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and state law; (c) for workers’ compensation purposes; (d) for occupational health surveillance; (e) for occupational health and safety compliance and record-keeping; (f) to conduct fitness for duty examinations; (g) to administer leaves of absence and sick time; and (h) to respond to an employee’s medical emergency. Note: This Notice does not cover medical information governed by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act or the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act.

Background Screening Information

  1. Personal Information Collected: The Company collected background screening information. Note: This Notice does not cover background screening governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which is excluded from the California Consumer Privacy Act.
  2. Purposes of Use: The Company screens employees for risks to the Company, to meet the contractual obligations we have to certain customers, continued suitability for the jobs and to evaluate employees for internal promotions.

Purposes Potentially Applicable to Any of the Categories of Personal Information Listed Above

The Company also may use employees’ Personal Information to facilitate administrative functions and information technology operations and for legal reasons and corporate transactions. These functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Manage and operate information technology and communication systems, risk management and insurance functions, budgeting, financial management and reporting, strategic planning;
  2. Manage litigation involving the Company, and other legal disputes and inquiries and to meet legal and regulatory requirements;
