The Role

At Allstate, our Software Engineering teams are developing the next generation of technologies that will drive our company’s competitive strategy. As a Software Engineer, you will be at the epicenter of implementing these initiatives to deliver Allstate products into the future.

We are looking for highly motivated Software Engineers to join our Product Management Platform team that will work within a fast-paced, agile environment. As a part of our team, you will be tasked with building software through continual enhancements across a full stack of technologies. A successful candidate is someone that enjoys taking on complex problems to deliver quality solutions, collaborates well within a team environment, and actively engages in design and decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possess the technical capabilities to quickly integrate with an engineering team and become familiar with the technical working environment with minimal supervision
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on all technical aspects of the software delivery lifecycle
  • Able to work in a self-directed and self-managed manner
  • Adhere to and promote principles of key areas of concern such as availability, scalability, maintainability and security
  • Drive critical phases of software engineering work from inception and throughout the CI/CD lifecycle
  • Accountable for consulting more junior members of the engineering team and able to make sound technical decisions across multiple problem dimensions and be able to articulate the decision throughout the evaluation process
  • Recognize, evolve and adapt technical approaches to problem solving as the business and computing landscape changes
  • Maintain positive outlook in handling continuous change and bring a sense of urgency in driving positive change at Allstate
  • Participates in team ceremonies including daily stand-ups, iteration planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives

Job Qualifications

  • A college degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science of STEM field with a strong understanding of Software Engineering fundamentals
  • 4+ years of software engineering experience in structured team settings
  • Solid experience in Java and similar OOP languages along with the following: Spring, JavaScript, AngularJS or ReactJS, Relational and NoSQL Databases
  • Strong understanding and effective implementation experience of design patterns, data structures, data persistence, UI frameworks, software and object-oriented design principles
  • Experience in developing software in different programming languages and across various paradigms, and proven ability to quickly evaluate and learn unfamiliar new programming languages
  • Possess understanding and experience with approaches and tools for automated testing and monitoring
  • Solid understanding of agile development fundamentals along with key development and productivity tools associated with this methodology

Compensation offered for this role is $67,300.00-$113,875.00 per year and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
