Project Manager, DevOps 

About the Position

 

Wirecutter is seeking an organized, action-oriented, hands-on project manager who can manage multiple projects in support of our DevOps team.  The DevOps team has an organization-wide impact by ensuring Wirecutter’s website infrastructure is secure, scalable and reliable.

 

You will be responsible for projects that focus on performance and reliability across our product. As a project manager at Wirecutter, you are a core member of a cross-functional team. As opportunities arise, you may also work across another product development or platform team to manage their projects to success.  You are expected to identify opportunities, suggest solutions, and act decisively when necessary to advance a project. This is a new position that reports to the Program Manager and will work closely with Project Management, Product Management, and Platform Engineering.

 

Responsibilities

  • Embrace a servant leader role for software development teams, driving definition and execution of features and products

  • Work with product management and engineering team leads to define goals, drive requirements, define scope, plan and sequence project work appropriately to meet objectives and timelines

  • Coordinate with fellow project managers to identify and manage cross-team dependencies.  Proactively monitor risk and seek out, track, and remove barriers to successful project completion

  • Maintain project schedules and roadmaps. You will track milestones and communicate status and progress to the project team, stakeholders, and leadership.

  • Facilitate agile ceremonies and associated artifacts tailored to the teams’ needs.

  • Champion agile processes, while also inspecting when practices need to be examined and adapted for the needs of a team or project

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years Project Management experience (formal or informal) including agile and scrum practices

  • Certified Scrum Master or equivalent experience on a scrum team with a goal to obtain certification while in the role.

  • Familiarity with different software delivery lifecycle methodologies including Agile, Hybrid and Waterfall techniques to deploy as needed

  • Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Coda, Trello, G Suite or other equivalent other work-tracking/Project Management tools

  • Exemplary interpersonal skills and self-awareness

  • Experience working on software development or cloud infrastructure projects; an ability to learn technical concepts quickly and communicate those concepts to others

  • Ability to manage and multi-task across multiple projects

  • Experience working in a remote or hybrid organization preferred

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently

  • Enthusiasm for Wirecutter’s mission and our innovation and growth
