Our Cloud Monitoring Software Engineering team builds and operates highly scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems to deliver cloud-scale security software services. We provide the fundamental building blocks to improve and preserve customer trust in Salesforce’s products across multiple public cloud substrates and our own network infrastructure. We architect and implement our services, to protect Salesforce products/infrastructure and defend against malicious attacks. . You will have the unique opportunity to learn from the best industry security experts and integrate that into your software and service engineering.

Built-in Trust. Hyperforce’s security architecture continuously verifies and limits users to appropriate levels of access to customer data, protecting exposure of sensitive information due to human error or misconfiguration. Encryption, at rest and in transit, comes standard, ensuring the privacy and the security of data from Salesforce and public cloud providers.

We are looking to hire Senior to Architect level Cloud Software Engineers in US with knowledge of programming, public cloud technologies and distributed systems (preferred). Micro-services architecture to take care of billions of spans a day. This teams Cloud Monitoring supports 1.5 billion matrix per minute. Looking for Engineers to build out the Next-Gen technology and innovation for the Public sector customers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • U.S. citizen (U.S. born or naturalized) who does not hold dual citizenship. You agree to complete a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) for a Moderate Public Trust position with the U.S. federal government or other clearances as deemed appropriate for the role
  • 6+ years of hands on designing, developing, and operating resilient distributed systems that run across thousands of compute nodes for large enterprise cloud companies.
  • Deep hands on coding experience of object oriented programming and experience with at least one object oriented programming language: Java, C++, C#, Ruby, Go, Scala, Python, Bash, Chef
  • Public cloud engineering on GCP, AWS and or Azure platforms
  • Cloud provisioning and infrastructure
  • B.S in Computer Science (M.S. preferred) with a strong understanding of OO design and fundamentals
  • Attention to detail, coaching, and mentoring junior members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Agile development methodology

Preferred Requirements:

  • Built a distributed real-time streaming architecture
  • Experience with message queue services, such as Kafka.
  • Public cloud engineering on GCP, AWS, Alibaba and/or Azure platforms
  • Experience with open source projects like HBase, MapReduce, Elastic Search, Kafka, Spark, Presto, Cassandra, Zookeeper Pig, or Hive
  • 3+ years or more with Java, Spring, distributed systems, microservices, and REST API
  • CI/CD Spinnaker, Terraform, Jenkins and Deployment architecture
  • Experience with container orchestration systems Kubernetes, Docker, Helios, Fleet or Mesos
  • Experience owning and operating multiple instances of mission-critical infrastructure services including, monitoring, alerting, logging, and reporting applications
  • Experience using SQL and/or NoSQL datastores e.g. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, etc
  • Security monitoring:
  • Experience with monitoring solutions like Splunk, New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus etc.
  • Knowledge about Commercial Monitoring offerings like Splunk, Newrelic, Datadog, Sumologic etc..
  • Solid competency with Prometheus, OpenTracing, or any other widely-used monitoring/visibility platform.
  • Prior experience with or knowledge of large scale, high volume distributed systems, distributed databases, and data pipelines.

Based on your level of expertise and passions you will be selected for one or more of these teams:

Availability Cloud Engineering (ACE) is an integral part of the Salesforce Infrastructure Technology team. ACE provides products, technologies and solutions that help our users get real time understanding of service and product health, perform real time monitoring, efficient troubleshooting and reduce TTD and TTR. This includes instrumenting the applications and systems to gather relevant metrics, logs and traces to help monitor the health of the system, use big-data and distributed system technologies to derive insights and machine learning to proactively forecast issues for preventative actions.

Monitoring Cloud provides tools and measures the availability for a majority of the Salesforce services. We own some of the critical pipelines that enable service owners to reliably send their metrics, logs, events, and trace data which are then used for monitoring and alerting. As the services across Salesforce on-board critical metrics to measure their availability, improve their performance and take a step towards Service ownership, Monitoring Cloud is re-architecting and increasing its capabilities to handle massive amounts of data, reduce latency and inefficiencies and eliminate capacity constraints

  • Team#1 Argus is focused on delivering analytics, monitoring, alerting and reporting infrastructure under the monitoring cloud platform. Our open-source project is leveraged internally for building scalable and reliable services that collects and analyzes Salesforce services metrics, and provide timely access to overall health and service performance. Our technology leverages multiple Open-Source platforms such as HBase, Elastic Search, Zookeeper and Kafka. We deal with Petabytes of data and near billion metrics/min both from our own data centers and our cross-provider public cloud capabilities..
  • Team #2 Log Analyticsteam is responsible for delivering solutions to analyze, generate metrics, monitor, report using log data under monitoring cloud platform. Log analytics solutions help stitch together millions of events together near real-time for deeper analysis (debug, metrics and analytics), gathering data from our own data centers and multi public cloud service providers at Petabyte scale. Our technology stack is built on Open Source platforms such as Presto, Tableau, Airflow, and 3rd party providers like Splunk. We are expanding our support to ELK.
  • Team #3 Kaiju is a self-service synthetic transaction framework that enables owners to monitor their services from customers perspective. Kaiju is built using Java, Springboot, Kafka, Heroku, AWS, Selenium, running on containerized platforms
  • Team #4 Funnel is the API Gateway of Monitoring Cloud – all monitoring traffic across first party data centers and Falcon flow through Funnel. On average, Funnel handles 100s TB of traffic a day, and is growing 10+% every quarter. We build highly scalable microservices using Java, Springboot over Scone, Confluent Rest Proxy, running Kubernetes in Falcon and 1P.
