Clarity’s Executive Search practice works with Canada’s top scale-up and enterprise growth companies to build a mature finance function as they face transformational growth activities like IPO readiness, raising capital, M&A, Financial Controls, KPI Development, and Debt & Equity financing.

The Role

As Clarity’s Research Associate, you will be a key contributor in this effort by supporting the executive search function.  You will be surrounded by high performers who are changing the game on Executive Search by bringing depth in finance knowledge and sector expertise, and taking a behavioural science and data driven approach to recruitment.  You will get exposure to many of Canada’s hottest growth companies and finance executives, learning what human capital factors are pivotal to their success. Finally, you will have access to structured mentorship from the best executive recruiters in the country.

What You’ll Do

The Research Associate will learn and execute a best-in-class search strategy through research, data analytics, and development of creative sourcing tactics.  Reporting to the Head of Executive Search and working closely with the sales and recruitment teams to:

  • Research and prepare overviews of top scale-up and growth companies and their business leaders
  • Leverage proprietary technology and 3rd party systems data sources and systems to conduct research on job roles, business sectors, competitor intelligence and industry trends.  Responsible for the design and implementation of comprehensive search strategies to generate qualified candidates through innovative research and standard tools including LinkedIn.
  • Create and maintain company and candidate target lists, while continuously engaging in client research, talent mapping, and supporting the executive search process
  • Design detailed short list reports from selected candidate lists; highlighting overall fit, competencies, scope and culture
  • Support candidate and client success throughout the recruitment process and afterwards to ensure that they remain a part of the Clarity community

What You’ll Need

  • Strong quant skills.  You have 3+ years experience in a  Finance, business or market research function
  • Strong professional communication, deck building, and modelling skills
  • You always bring your A-game. You’ll need a positive attitude, motivation, persistence and a competitive edge to complement a top-performing team


Create a foundation 6-MONTHS into your role:

  • Finding Clarity: Understanding our business, our values and what we’re about
  • Fostering trust and partnerships with key internal stakeholders; gain buy-in through your support and developing and executing effective research strategies.
  • Generate effective document production: create effective, targeted, audience specific pitch decks and candidate presentation decks with a critical eye for accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Create and generate target company lists and generate in depth competitor intelligence and analysis on an ongoing basis, keeping step with an evolving environment.

Establish yourself as the recruiter you want to be, 12-MONTHS into your role:

  • You are the go-to resource on research, intelligence and analytics.  You leverage your foundational industry knowledge with ease to capitalize on your understanding of fluid industry and talent trends.
  • An integral member of the Clarity executive search function, you understand the talent dynamics of the teams you support to generate results and a superior internal client experience.
  • Understanding Clarity’s business goals and targets, you anticipate need and are constantly engaged in big picture thinking in all things research tied to strategic outcomes utilizing comprehensive company research efforts, BIR (Business Intelligence reports), SWOT analysis and industry industry intelligence.
  • As a motivated self starter, you take the initiative and collaborate with Clarity’s internal teams to add value to Clarity’s internal search function.
  • Lock in trust and partnerships with critical internal stakeholders including the sales, search and senior management counterparts.
