About the Senior Digital Strategist
WFP is seeking an experienced Senior Digital Strategist to join our criminal justice team. The right candidate will feel comfortable owning the digital strategy for our candidates and the Criminal Justice program at large. Applicants should have extensive experience with digital organizing and strategy, be familiar with the landscape of digital tools at their disposal, and should possess excellent written and organizational skills.
This position is remote. Applicants do not need to live in New York.
Expectations and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute national and local criminal justice digital campaigns plans, including:
- Producing advocacy and electoral campaign message and strategy documents
- Building relationships with coalition partners and candidates to pitch, execute, manage digital campaign strategy
- Planning online events to engage target audience
- Assists with talking points for different target audiences
- Creating and coordinating social media strategies, including paid media, in tandem with national WFP staff
- Working with larger digital-communications team to maintain social media accounts as it pertains to CJ work
- Advises and implements advertising and acquisition strategy
- Trains and supports national and state organizers and coalition partners on digital strategy and tools, including email writing, broadcast SMS strategy, Facebook ads, and digital campaigning overall.
- Identify and take advantage of opportunities for organizing and engagement through Facebook groups, Twitter lists, and other private channels.
- Works with other members of the national Digital Communications team to implement digital outreach, fundraising, engagement, and communications strategies for Criminal Justice work.
- Assist the Department Director in developing national digital strategies to elevate WFP candidate victories and tell a national story of the reform candidate movement
- Coordinate with state and regional staff on electoral and issue campaigns as well as breaking news
- Identify and navigate state and local environments
- Coordinate with electoral campaign staff and organizational partners
- Work with national WFP staff to Identify national digital opportunities for WFP state issues, candidates, and multi-state campaigns
Qualifications
- Minimum of four years of digital organizing experience;
- A firm understanding of the issues surrounding reforming our criminal justice system
- At least two campaign cycles in a digital/comms department
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Detail-oriented and highly organized;
- Ability to react quickly and manage competing priorities without dropping balls;
- Flexibility, patience, and willingness to “roll with the punches” as days can be unpredictable as news breaks or opportunities arise;
A sense of humor; and - Commitment to building a multiracial working-class movement to save the world.
Compensation
$60,000 – $75,000/yr and will be adjusted based on an internal equitable scale that takes into consideration years of experience, geographic location, and final job description. We also offer a competitive benefits package, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time.
