As AWS and Amazon.com continue to grow to serve more customers, and to support more products, the foundational technologies of AWS also need to evolve and support new use cases and larger scale than ever before. The AWS Transactional Services team is building distributed systems and database technologies that offer innovative solutions to this growth. Our systems underpin many large AWS services and several of the most critical components of the Amazon.com. Our customers are a wide range of internal teams, from AWS to Alexa, each of them looking for technology solutions that help them to achieve their goals.

We are looking for a high caliber Senior Product Manager – Tech who enjoys working on challenging, ambiguous, and high impact problems. As a Senior Product Manager, you are responsible for understanding customer needs, market trends, and defining product roadmaps and customer experiences that leverage technology effectively to delight customers. The services we own have a huge opportunity to move the needle in a positive direction. The domain is deeply technical and will give you ample room to exercise your technical skills.

Virtual Opportunity
We are a distributed team. Today, we have team members in Washington, Arizona, Indiana, California, and Paris. Our core team hours are Monday-Friday, 10:00AM-4:00PM PST. Team members adjust the rest of their workday to suit their needs, with flexibility for recurring personal responsibilities like drop-offs and pick-ups. As long as you are able to work our core team hours, this role may be based out of any state or province where we have an AWS presence including (but not limited to): Arizona, British Columbia, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, or Washington. In addition to supporting virtual team members, we can align folks to AWS Offices in cities including (but not limited to): Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Portland, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Irvine, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Santa Monica, Sunnyvale, San Diego, Las Vegas, Boulder, Denver, Phoenix, Tempe, Salt Lake City, Meridian, Vancouver, or Victoria.

Key job responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Collecting customer requirements and market trends
Defining the roadmap and direction of the teams
Evolving the technical direction of the service
Building sustainable processes
Coordinating release schedules
Delivering quality features on-time and on-budget and executing against project plans and delivery commitments
Working closely with customers to ensure that the right products are delivered
Maintaining current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a look out for new technologies and work with the team in bringing in new technologies

About the team
As a product manager on the Transactional Services team you will be part of a broader product management team that includes DynamoDB and Keyspaces. The product team is a diverse group of program managers, product managers, researchers, and advocates. You will have mentorship from individuals that have 10+ years on industry experience, peers to collaborate with, and peers to mentor. The product team has a unique set of past experiences (marketing, PhD, engineering, solution architect, consultant, etc.) that helps us seek diverse opinions to best serve our customers. We seek to create a safe place to try new ideas and recognize those that contribute to others success.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• BS in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least five years of work experience and at least three years of experience as a technical program manager
• Experience leading at least one major product through conception, specification, planning, execution, launch, and subsequent improvement, where scope involved working with multiple engineering teams and partner teams
• Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills, including strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems
• Passion for technology, willingness to dive deep into the technical products Amazon is building, and commitment to learning and expanding technical knowledge
• Experience influencing executive leadership through verbal and written communication
• Experience negotiating, influencing, planning, and executing across teams
• Technical depth in databases, storage, or distributed systems, including architectural and operational aspects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• BS in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least five years of work experience and at least two years of experience as a technical product manager
• Experience leading at least one products or major features through conception, specification, positioning, pricing, launch, and subsequent improvement, where scope involved working with multiple engineering teams and partner teams
• Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills, including strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems
• Passion for technology, willingness to dive deep into the technical products Amazon is building, and commitment to learning and expanding technical knowledge
• Experience influencing executive leadership through verbal and written communication

• The pay range for this position in Colorado is $152,200 – $205,900 / yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
