What Is Employee Growth Rate & Why Is It Important?

Symetra has an exciting new opportunity to join our DevOps Automation team as a Senior Product Owner!

About the role

As the Senior Product Owner you will be driving the vision of maturing and transforming the software engineering experience at Symetra. You will represent the perspective of Symetra engineering teams in adoption of DevOps practices, technology, and tooling. You will be joining a team whose mission is to enable cross-functional, empowered, and accountable product teams across the enterprise by providing the capabilities needed to realize business outcomes.

You’re a great candidate if you are customer-obsessed and you live and breathe Agile principles, product management and have a DevOps mindset. You think of everything through the lens of problem/opportunity. You are focused on outcomes rather than output. You’re very familiar with the software development lifecycle, and how this ultimately impacts the customer experience. You passionately believe in making the company work better for our customers and our employees. You love and embrace change, even though it’s hard. You’re strategic, inclusive, and drive meaningful change. You consistently look for the big picture but are willing and able to roll up your sleeves and pitch in where help is needed.

What you’ll do

We are strengthening the team to help accelerate Symetra’s transformation to empowered and accountable product engineering teams. In this position you will help the team succeed on several critical fronts: evaluation of rapidly evolving technology, increased adoption of DevOps practices and tooling across the enterprise, and prioritization and delivery of work that supports the company’s Digital Operating Principles.

  • Own and regularly maintain a healthy product backlog for adoption of DevOps tooling, practices, and technology across the enterprise.
  • Evaluate, analyze, understand, interpret, and communicate insights derived from data, as well as identify opportunities for capture/measurement of additional data points related to software engineering practices.
  • Work with the team and leadership to remove impediments and work to identify long term improvements to recurring processes.
  • Commit to continued self-learning of Agile and DevOps practices, promote standardized repeatable processes for the team, observe, listen, evaluate, and provide feedback to team.
  • Demonstrate and develop in others a steadfast customer focus.
  • Assist with Scrum ceremonies as needed.
