Baal & Spots is looking for a Senior UI Designer to join our team of passionate, innovative creatives who put fresh work at the forefront of our priorities—we cut out rigid, stale-air progress report meetings so that we can focus on creating amazing digital experiences together.
Ideally, our Senior Designer would be someone with strong capabilities in web design, UI design and interactive design. We need someone who is looking to grow their skill-set, wants to learn more about web design best practices and understands that the work is time-sensitive. A positive attitude and a great sense of humor will go far with our team.
Senior UI Designer Responsibilities
- Collaborating with project management, engineering, and content teams to define and implement innovative solutions for the project direction, visuals and experience
- Executing all visual design stages of a website from concept to final hand-off to engineering
- Experimenting eagerly with new design techniques and/or standards, as needed
- Developing responsive UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like
- Working in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
- Maintain and create materials & goods (social media graphics, ads, etc.) based on client & internal feedback and existing style guides to fit brand image
- Document project overview, product requirements, design systems, style guides, user journeys, interactions and specifications for the engineering teams and all essential implementation details.
Senior UI Designer Requirements
- Ideally 7+ years as a UI designer or related field with a focus on user centered design
- Strong portfolio demonstrating creative problem solving with excellent attention to detail, mastery of typography, color, iconography and spacing
- Experience working with product and development to ship designs
- Ability to translate user and business goals into UI solutions
- Proficient in design software: Sketch, Invision, Adobe Creative Suite, and more
- Experience with interaction design, 2d and 3d illustration, modelling and rendering
- Experience building and maintaining design systems
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Moderate understanding of front-end development practices, such as HTML5, CSS and Javascript is a huge plus.

This position is full-time with the ability of working remotely and/or on premise. Candidates residing in Houston, TX are strongly preferred.
