Job summary
Consumer Payments team is hiring experienced Software Development Engineers to work from home OR from Amazon’s offices in Seattle, WA, Austin, TX or Arlington, VA. Help us bring Amazon’s awesome customer experience to the finance industry! Lead the development of new systems for high impact product launches.

Amazon Lending is passionate about helping small and medium sized businesses grow and thrive. Since inception, we have lent billions of dollars world-wide to third party sellers on Amazon. We operate at scale providing fast, easy, access to capital with our simple, streamlined loan application process and machine learning enabled tools. We are looking for engineers to help us expand our program as we seek to understand how Lending can be extended to other B2B focused businesses within Amazon, such as AWS, Advertising, Last Mile, and Global Shipping.

Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer with Amazon Lending, you will work closely with a talented team of engineers, product managers, and UX designers to build innovative new financial products. You will develop flexible and configurable services to accelerate product rollouts and experimentation and handle rapidly increasing workloads across multiple lines of business. We are a fast-paced development team, using agile methodologies and SOA design patterns to simplify the complexities of partner integration, product setup, loan application submission and loan servicing through rigorous analysis and system design, all with a keen focus on customer needs.

A day in the life
We are a fast-paced development team, using agile methodologies to deliver incrementally with each two-week sprint. We build predominantly in java using a blend of server and serverless based architectures. We are a full stack development organization owning internally and externally facing UI stacks as well as multiple services. We invest heavily in automation in both testing and deployment to reduce time to market and scale our operations. We allocate time for learning and experimentation through learning days and hackathons and provide plenty of opportunities to work along-side senior engineers. We share our knowledge through weekly learning sessions and monthly tech talks. We constantly seek to innovate new approaches to system design and make our applications faster and more flexible by monitoring system performance and prototyping new ideas.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in building large scale distributed systems
• MS in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Five years of progressively responsible work experience
• Experience in scaling and performance tuning of large systems
• Understanding of relational and non-relational data modeling
• Experience with AWS and other cloud technologies
• Experience developing software in a Unix/Linux environment
• Experience with devOps and continuous deployment
The pay range for this position in Colorado is $143,700 – 194,400/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act.
The pay range for this position in Jersey City is $158,100 – 213,800/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Pay Transparency Regulation of Jersey City Municipal Code. Base pay information is based on market location.
