What you’ll do

As a Software Security Specialist in Research and Development (R&D) at SAS, you will utilize your industry experience in software security to work collaboratively with members of the product security office. You will define, design, and implement secure architectural approaches for software applications through consideration of business requirements, system quality attributes, and overall technical direction.

You will:

• Create effective communications for internal / external customers, working with others to ensure professional and accurate information is delivered.
• Provide timely and relevant updates to appropriate stakeholders and decision makers.
• Consult with R&D teams to ensure that security benchmarks, guidelines, and processes are readily adopted and implemented.
• Communicate secure architecture designs to promote an understanding of the overall R&D architecture.
• Use security tools and secure software architecture methodologies to evaluate design trade-offs to develop updated architectures. You will work with Product Management to ensure changes are consistent with business objectives and customer requirements.
• Manage risk identification and risk mitigation strategies associated with the architecture.
• Plan evolutionary paths for secure software architectures, incorporating dependent third-party architectural changes and new technology adoption.
• Maintain and organize detailed documentation about technical designs with supporting justification for secure architectural and design choices.

What we’re looking for

• You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
• 2+ years of experience in the area of software security.
• Knowledge of industry standards for application security.
• Knowledge of system and application vulnerabilities.
• Knowledge of security architecture concepts, including topology, protocols, components, and principles.
• Ability to keep abreast with the latest threats, attacking techniques, and mitigating strategies.

The nice to haves

• Knowledge of OWASP SAMM.
• Experience with threat modeling, penetration testing, and security tools.
