Are you a senior telecom professional who has led successful end to end telecom initiatives with Tier 1 operators? Are you looking for an exciting and fast-paced career working with both business and technology executives to leverage Mobile Edge Compute and 5G to accelerate adoption of IOT, Mixed Reality, Video Analytics, Gaming, and Real-Time Machine Learning use cases?

At AWS, we’re looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to join the AWS Telecom Industry business unit. This Senior Solution Architect will engage with the largest service providers in North America provide deep business and technical expertise to help providers and partners design, architect, and implement transformational Mobile Edge Compute solutions for both Private MEC and Public MEC. As an Edge Solutions Architect for Telco IBU , you will have the exciting opportunity to help drive the growth and shape the future of public and private MEC, AWS Local Zones, CDNs, 5G services, AWS hardware and software platforms for edge compute and Private Networks.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be as comfortable white-boarding complex software architectures with a room full of engineers as you are briefing an executive audience. You will help our service provider customers transform their technology and business systems to meet the needs of the 5G and Edge Cloud era. You will author reference architectures that will provide a point-of-view for the industry on how to best use edge cloud capabilities. You will co-create new products with wireless operators, engage with large enterprises for next generation use-cases around ultra-low latency, and provide direction for what could become future AWS services in the mobile edge compute space.

We are seeking outcome driven and customer obsessed professionals with a balance of deep technical skills, business expertise, and passion about:

Promoting customer centricity and ensuring focus on creating great customer experiences
Driving business engagement to develop strategies for embedding Digital Transformation and Innovation into customer’s private and public edge cloud technology footprint
Collaborating across AWS teams to drive and shape solutions that accelerate customer’s business outcomes

As the right candidate, you will have experience in the following areas:

Ability to fluently communicate at C-level with clients, stakeholders, boardrooms, and peers becoming the “trusted advisor”
Designing and implementing large-scale digital transformation programs for our customers
Developing repeatable products and offerings
Leading and working in cross-functional teams to evaluate, provide insight and drive strategic outcomes that have the greatest impact on the enterprise
Experience working with complex global organizations with proven effectiveness spanning multiple business units
* Proven ability to translate broad next generation strategies into clear, specific business deliverables and solutions

This position can be based anywhere in the US where AWS has a significant presence (Seattle, NY/NJ, Dallas, San Francisco or Boston are preferred).

Up to 35% travel may be necessary, depending on home location.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications or infrastructures
  • 8+ years within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)
  • Previous experience in a senior technical role
  • 10+ years of working in telecommunications
  • 7+ year of working with complex system integration projects
  • 3+ years of working with 4G/5G network functions virtualization (NFV) Management and Orchestration
  • 3+ years of working with network virtualization and cloud platforms including Kubernetes and Containers
  • In-depth knowledge of telecom industry frameworks like 3GPP, ETSI MEC, MANO, OPNFV and CNCF

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • In-depth knowledge in wireless, wireline, and cable networks.
  • Understanding of telecom monetization use cases for edge networks (private and public) like Video Analytics, Location services, V2X, Optimized Content Distribution and Augmented Reality
  • Deep understanding of Multi-Access Edge Computing, SD-WAN and IP Networking
  • Advanced degree in engineering, computer science, business, or relevant fields of study
  • Industry domain thought leader as evidenced through product development, published works in relevant industry media, or speaking in industry conferences
  • AWS certifications a plus
  • CNCF Kubernetes certifications a plus
  • Advanced networking certifications a plus (CCIE, JNCIE, etc)

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $153600/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
