Job Description:

SUMMARY:

We are looking for a senior DevOps Engineer to provide engineering design and support for our current and future global infrastructure. This engineer will be helping to migrate existing services from on-prem to cloud offerings, manage services in a multi-region hybrid configuration, deploy new technologies as business units request them, and perform a very broad range of tasks at a multi-business unit level. You will also be a local resource for other DevOps personnel and will be part of a team that helps set direction for all DevOps and centralized tools across our organization.

This small team directly supports all core technologies and services like DNS/certificates, auth/file/monitoring/alerting, CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GKE/Kubernetes clusters, ELK stacks, Terraform, SQL/NoSQL solutions, load-balancing/networking/firewalls, and many others for both multi-region cloud and multiple on-prem locations. This is an opportunity to showcase your skills in a centralized DevOps role, and build and design multi-site, hybrid, enterprise level solution as a key member of a large global organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reconfigure current deployment solutions to provide cloud-ready solutions as necessary
  • Design highly available and secure solutions for production services
  • Manage shared services including DNS, Ceph or other distributed storage solutions, Grafana, Kubernetes, CICD tools (Jenkins/Artifactory, etc), Site24X7 or other monitoring and alerting solutions, ELK
  • Be an SME for teams migrating to the cloud; Assist with cloud permissions/networking/design as required
  • Provide top-level support for CentOS or similar LINUX kernels from deployment through tuning and troubleshooting
  • Document and automate existing deployment processes
  • Work closely with development and architecture teams in an engineering capacity to support and improve ongoing processes and onboard new technologies
  • Provide load-balancer, firewall, and general networking support
  • Mentor junior DevOps team members and champion shared service offerings
  • Provide support for multiple development and QA environments
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve systems and infrastructure

  • Knowledge and experience with large scale SQL/NoSQL solutions.
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed multi-site geo-redundant data centers.
  • Experience with MySQL Cluster/NoSQL or other sharded data tiers.
  • Experience supporting ELK, Splunk, or similar solutions
  • Experience supporting message queueing applications (Kafka, Pub/Sub, etc)
  • Ability to drive root cause analysis.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to both collaborate with people around the globe, and work relatively independently

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience.
  • 3+ years of technical system operations experience in an enterprise environment, with 2+ years of cloud experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with one or more CM tools like Helm, Puppet, Terraform, or Ansible
  • A deep understanding of LINUX operations and tuning.
  • Familiarity with enterprise level security tools and best practices
  • Strong Docker/Kubernetes experience.
  • Strong Github and Jenkins or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with virtualization and shared file system technology.
