Description
The Vice President of Consulting Services holds responsibility for both the delivery of SmartLogic’s services and growing the size of our accounts. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of delivering $1M+ agile software development projects, will have supported sales efforts related to closing $1M+ agile software development projects, and will have experience managing a team of custom application development professionals.
Total compensation, including base salary and bonus, is in the range of $200-240k. This position is fully remote within the United States and its Territories. We offer health, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance as well as a 3% matching SIMPLE IRA program.

In this role you will report to the President. You will have a minimum of two reports: the Director of Engineering and Senior Software Project Manager. As of time of writing (November 2021), 17 people will report up through the VP of Consulting Services. Other people reporting to the President include the VP of Business Development and Operations Manager.
You will be accountable to these KPIs:
- Gross profit margin
- Client satisfaction
- Delivery team utilization
- Account growth
Responsibilities
- Design and manage project management and engineering processes that ensure we deliver to the spirit and letter of every SOW we execute.
- Ensure that all projects are being managed effectively such that we always have happy clients and so that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Support our sales process by speaking to our capabilities, engendering a sense of trustworthiness with prospective clients, assisting with the generation of certain sales artifacts related to delivery (e.g. scope documents and SOWs), and most critically by defining the scope that you will be responsible for delivering.
- Grow accounts by designing and managing an account management function that not only ensures we meet and exceed expectations, but that we make our clients aware of other services we offer, and actions we can take, that will lead to greater success on the part of our clients.
- Manage a growing and diverse team of developers, designers, and project managers of varying skill levels and professional experience, ensuring everyone who reports up through you grows in their career and enjoys working at SmartLogic
Requirements
- Experience managing and delivering agile software development projects of various sizes, but critically, accounts with billings of $1M+ over a 12 month period.
- Ability to listen to, intuit, identify, and define the business needs of clients in order to design solutions that solve those needs in a complete manner.
- Communication and interpersonal skills that allow you to build long-lasting relationships rooted in trust, clear expectations, and shared goals.
- Hip to all modern software development practices (e.g. agile software development) and technologies (web, mobile, AWS, Elixir/Phoenix, etc.).
- Phenomenal technical writing skills (scope documents, proposals, etc.).
- Your effectiveness as a manager will be self-evident; you are respected and held in high regard by former supervisees, peers, and supervisors.
