What Is Employee Growth Rate & Why Is It Important?
At CommerceIQ, we help consumer brands accelerate their retail ecommerce market share growth and profitably through machine learning and algorithms. We are building the world’s most complete and sophisticated Retail Ecommerce Management Platform, which connects and intelligently automates the management of retail ecommerce channels like Amazon, Walmart, and Instacart, across the entire ecommerce operational chain of retail media management, sales operations, supply chain, and digital self analytics.
We are in hyper growth mode, having recently raised our Series D funding at unicorn valuation (>$1B) and ended our third year of triple-digit revenue growth. Continued acceleration of our growth is fueled by landing new customers, expanding our platform through new products, managing new retail ecommerce platforms, and delivering exceptional customer service to unlock high net retention rates.
This position can be based anywhere in the US.
As the Corporate Controller at CommerceIQ you will build and lead the GL Accounting team and maintain a focus on process and systematic scalability. You’ll oversee the accounting operations, Revenue, AP, AR, payroll, stock administration, tax, treasury, and more. CommerceIQ is fortunate to be in a growth stage, so in addition to the day to day operations, you will work within and across departments to implement systems, improve processes and expand existing policies. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working within a fast-paced environment while still maintaining a close attention to detail.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Manage the team responsible for day-to-day operations to produce timely and accurate financial information for internal and external reporting purposes
Lead the general ledger activities, including the review of journal entries and account reconciliations
Oversee the month-end financial statement analysis and flux commentaries
Oversee outsourced accounting firm and assess the need/timing of building out a team
Develop and execute a roadmap for implementing/improving processes and controls to scale the accounting function and safeguard assets
Revenue recognition policy and 606 implementation
Establish operational metrics and cadence for reporting
Develop strategy for future system implementations and enhancements/upgrades
Oversee audit processes and proactively communicate with auditors on accounting for complex transactions
Ensure domestic and international compliance for the global setup
Technical accounting (stock comp, rev rec, warrants, capitalization of software, tax and deferred tax)
Sales tax and Fed and State income tax filings, international tax, and other compliance matters
Treasury, disbursements, Bill.com, credit/debit card management and Inter-company cash movement
Controls build-out toward audit
Lead or assist in due diligence reviews
Enablement of BvA reporting and FCST roll forward
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
At least 7 years of related experience, including a minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience (Big 4 desired), and 3 years managing a team.
Combined high growth private company and public accounting background. SaaS experience a plus.
Proven track record in designing and managing a team
Very strong understanding of US GAAP and displayed proficiency in accounting operations
Experience working with multinational entities and the related transfer pricing and international tax requirements
Strong analytical skills with the ability to effectively interpret data and create meaningful and understandable reports and metrics
Desire to roll-up your sleeves, prioritize work, execute plans and drive deliverables
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field; CPA or international equivalent preferred
