The Builder Tools organization at AWS is responsible for internal developer tools. We enable our customers to manage their end-to-end software release process (CI/CD), including going from source code check-in, to building those changes, to testing those changes, to deploying those changes, and tracking security and availability risks through our release governance systems. As a Software Development Manager in Builder Tools, you’ll be empowered to:

  • Being a clear technical voice, working in partnership with your team to deliver an architecture which will scale with the needs of the AWS business.

  • Working on business strategy to define a product roadmap that’s compelling and focused on growth, while collaborating with other product teams across Amazon’s businesses.
  • Meeting with internal customers to learn and help them shape their own tooling story.
  • Clearly communicating at the executive level risks, successes, and missteps as you define and execute on a vision for the product.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
  • Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
  • 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
  • 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • 6+ years software development experience.
  • 4+ years of experience managing software development teams.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline; in lieu of this degree, relevant work experience will be considered

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exhibit a strong track record of on-time project delivery for large, cross-functional projects, preferably in devops, continuous delivery, or infrastructure automation
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including executives and non-technical leaders
  • Experience taking a lead role in architecting, designing, and building complex software systems
  • Possess expertise delivering projects with Agile methodologies
  • Track record of delivering results in a collaborative work environment
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Composed, poised and professional demeanor
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves and get the job done
  • Well-timed tenacity and conviction

The base pay range for this position in Colorado is $184,900 – 250,200(yr). Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. The pay range for this position in Jersey City is $203,400 -275,200 (yr); however, base pay offered
may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and
restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a
full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
