About FireHydrant

FireHydrant helps companies recover from IT disasters more quickly. The FireHydrant platform includes Incident ResponseStatus PagesRetrospectives, and Deploy Events so you can take control of your complex system, reduce downtime, and work better together. We’re a Series A company with around 20 employees who sit across the United States and we’re growing.

About the Role

As a platform engineer you’ll apply Site Reliability Engineering principles to build the foundation all of our engineers depend upon to serve our customers needs. As an early member of our team, you’ll get to lay the groundwork for future product innovation and scaling capabilities.

We’re looking for people with a strong background or interest in building developer-focused products, care deeply about security and customer trust, and are comfortable learning new skills that will deliver value to our customers.

You’ll be working on

  • Expanding our production environments into multiple cloud providers in order to meet our customers’ reliability needs
  • Increasing the number of SLOs for our systems and features to ensure that we’re meeting our customers’ availability needs
  • Participating in system design of new systems from the concept or prototype stage to ensure we can deliver on our performance and reliability goals
  • Driving reliability and observability in all of our systems and engineering processes

We’re looking for someone who

  • Has experience with running Kubernetes in Google Cloud or AWS
  • Can pick the right technologies for the job, and can learn the right technologies when they need
  • Takes ownership of a project from concept to production
  • Enjoys working with, teaching, and learning from a diverse group of people
  • Knows why good is better than good enough, but also knows why perfect is the enemy of good

Example projects

  • Improve internal deployment and development workflow tooling to ensure engineers can quickly deploy new and existing services in a consistent manner
  • Deploy our applications in multiple cloud providers to ensure that our customers can depend on us to resolve their most challenging issues
  • Work with engineering teams to integrate SLO planning into their workflows and design systems to meet those availability and performance thresholds
