THE CHALLENGE
Eventbrite’s business continues to grow and scale rapidly, powering millions of events. Event creators and event goers need new tools and technologies that empower them to create/have some of the most memorable of life’s moments, live experiences. One of our most important elements in achieving our company goals is our people. As an engineering manager you’re responsible for the careers, productivity, and quality (among other things) of Eventbrite’s builders.
THE TEAM
We’re a people-focused Engineering organization: the women and men on our team value working together in small teams to solve big problems, supporting an active culture of mentorship and inclusion, and pushing themselves to learn new things daily. Pair programming, weekly demos, tech talks, and hackathons are at the core of how we’ve built our team and product. We believe in engaging with the community, regularly hosting free events with some of the top technical speakers, and actively contributing to open source software (check out Britecharts as an example!). Our technology spans across web, mobile, API, big data, machine learning, search, physical point of sale, and scanning systems.

THE ROLE
As an Engineering Manager at Eventbrite, you’ll lead a team of 6-8 engineers, supporting their career growth and partnering with a Product Manager to enable efficient delivery on the team’s business objectives.
You’ll inspire, mentor, and develop your team members, connecting them with Eventbrite’s mission and technical vision, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate with other engineering leaders to drive positive organizational change while maintaining a sustainable, healthy work environment.
THE SKILL SET
- 2-5 years experience in technical leadership and people management
- Demonstrated ability to recruit and lead a diverse, high-performing engineering team
- Strong engineering background and ability to contribute to software design and architectural discussions – coach first, player second
- Ability to communicate context (both technical and strategic) and connect it with how the team impacts the organization
- Experience working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment building software with high expectations for quality and uptime
- With the help of other engineering managers, you develop a sustainable, healthy work environment which is both encouraging and challenging
