What Is Employee Growth Rate & Why Is It Important?

Brilliant is seeking a Head of Finance to join our rapidly growing, profitable company.

With a focus on creativity and technology, Brilliant curates, produces, and helps companies distribute memorable branded merchandise and custom products. Whether it’s newsworthy press kits, welcome gifts for new hires, merch sets to promote a product launch, or giveaways people love, our team of retail trend experts, designers and engineers work together to produce impactful products that bring brands to life.

As an integral member of our executive team, the Head of Finance will lead our finance and business intelligence functions and will continuously strengthen the processes and infrastructure necessary for the substantial growth we expect to continue seeing over the next several years. This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role at a growing, profitable, data-driven company where you will have an immediate impact on our operations and performance.

We are a remote company, so you can be based anywhere in the western hemisphere and should be enthusiastic about working remotely.

The role will report directly to our Founder/CEO and the package includes a competitive base salary, equity and benefits.

Responsibilities:

Finance/Accounting

  • Implement systems for budgeting, invoicing, and payments.
  • Own the company-wide financial model, partnering with executive team and functional leaders to develop detailed operating plans, establish metrics, and monitor success.
  • Manage corporate card, line of credit, all finance & accounting vendors.
  • Lead efforts to collect client payments, pay vendor invoices, and utilize the revolving credit facility (as necessary) to maintain a strong cash flow position.
  • Utilize Brilliant software to manage the preparation of client invoices and lead all aspects of the collections process.
  • Manage bi-monthly payroll and contractor payment process, and vendor payments.
  • Work with external accountants to manage all facets of company tax preparation and filings.
  • Manage corporate card, line of credit, all finance & accounting vendors.

Financing

  • Manage existing working capital revolver, including credit agreement reporting requirements, and banking relationship • Lead debt and equity fundraising processes to secure additional capital to support working capital and growth, as needed

Business Intelligence

  • Build out reporting tools and packages to deliver operational and financial data to support decision making across the organization
  • Work with operational and financial data sets to provide actionable insights and recommendations to the management team to support strategic decisions (e.g., market sizing, pricing analysis)

Leadership

  • Serve as a benchmark of quality and performance across the organization, work with leadership to deliver on the company vision and goals
  • Build out finance team to support company growth; work with leadership to define finance team needs and make hires accordingly
  • Manage various ongoing processes, contracts and vendors, such as banks, benefits providers, payroll provider, 401(k) administrator, 409A valuation consultant, property managers, credit card provider, commercial insurance providers, and various software vendors, among others

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in finance-related roles; some professional accounting, investment banking, legal, management consulting or private equity experience required; experience managing a high-performing team
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required, MBA or JD preferred
  • Technical skill set: Mastery of accounting and financial reporting, advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and accounting systems
  • Experience at ecommerce, logistics and/or SaaS companies a plus
  • Project management: Ability to proactively manage various employees, vendors, and other stakeholders to efficiently complete projects
  • Self-directed: Ability to lead responsibilities with little oversight or direction
  • Process-oriented: Enjoys designing, refining, and executing complex processes
  • Can-do attitude: Willingness to pitch in where needed – there is opportunity to own Legal Ops and/or HR for the right candidate.
