What Is Employee Growth Rate & Why Is It Important?
Swyft Inc. is a global leader in the fast-growing contactless unattended retail business and is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead its global operations. From existing contacts Swyft is projecting 250% revenue growth in 2021 and has been operating under capital constraints. The successful applicant will be a dynamic leader providing leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team. The CFO will manage external relationships with banks, investors, auditors and the processes for financial forecasting and budgets. The CFO will work with the Controller and finance team to oversee the preparation of all financial reporting and advice on long-term business and financial planning.
The successful applicant will be a high-energy hard-working executive with a proven track record ideally in a high growth business and preferably with public company experience. Operational experience in the retail technology industry, with manufacturing, logistics, field services and supply chain will be an advantage.
CFO Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning:
Assist in formulating the company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives. Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans. Develop financial and tax strategies. Manage the capital request and budgeting processes. Develop performance measures and monitoring systems that support the company’s strategic direction.
Operations:
Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team. Participate in automation of processes to eliminate manual tasks. Participate in setting pricing strategy and in financial reviews of large contracts or proposals with special pricing. Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team. Manage the accounting, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury departments. Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies and foreign operations. Manage third parties to which accounting or finance functions have been outsourced. Oversee the company’s transaction processing systems. Implement operational best practices and oversee the Netsuite ERP and other financial and inventory management software systems used by the company. Supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions and prepare the company for future financings/IPO.
Financial Information:
Oversee the issuance of financial information. Report financial results to the board of directors and bankers.
Risk Management:
Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile. Monitor all financial covenants, open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry. Construct and monitor reliable control systems. Maintain appropriate insurance coverage. Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements. Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies. Report risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors. Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
Funding:
Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts. Manage the process to arrange for debt financing and equity financing. Invest funds. Partner with the CEO to negotiate strategic financings and shareholder liquidity.
Third Parties:
Comfortably and enthusiastically present the company at investor conferences. Maintain banking relationships. Represent the company with investment bankers and investors.
Culture:
Swyft is an innovative and dynamic company with dozens of patents, with 1/3 of the workforce being product & engineering. The CFO must have sound decision-making and problem-solving in pressure situations and must contribute to balancing focus on current company activities and future innovations.
Desired Qualifications:
The Chief Financial Officer should have a Masters degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation. The successful applicant will have a proven track record with outstanding references. Ideally candidates will have an MBA in Finance and the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
