Job Details

Salesforce.org is seeking an associate manager to manage the Salesforce.org blog in a six-month contractor/freelancer position. This person’s primary role will be daily management of our editorial strategy, including writing, editing, and coordinating blog content. You will be a key member of the brand marketing department and work closely with the social media team, the web team, creative team and cross-functional leadership from our education and nonprofit industry teams.

The Salesforce.org blog is the ultimate inspiration portal for educational institutions and nonprofit organizations looking to leverage technology to further their purpose and make lasting change. With readers from small, medium, and large institutions, the blog aims to serve as a go-to resource for industry leaders to learn about trends, understand how others are using tech to maximize impact, and take action to achieve their individual, team, or organizational purpose.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Blog calendar management
    • Ensure the weekly, monthly, and quarterly blog calendar is kept up to date with upcoming blog postsStay abreast of cultural moments relevant to Salesforce.org blog audience and ideate editorial extensions (ex. Earth Day, International Literacy Day)
    • Manage editorial activation of key brand and company tentpole moments including Dreamforce, Nonprofit Summit, Education Summit
  • Writing and editing
    • Develop and edit blogs and content that echo communications priorities as set by messaging narratives.
    • Serve as the blog editor by proofreading outgoing communications.
    • Work to ensure consistent and high standards of writing that’s aligned with Salesforce.org tone and voice.
  • Content planning
    • Plan and lead creative oversight of upcoming blog content on a monthly and quarterly basis using the blog calendar and key milestone moments from month to month
    • Lead quarterly, monthly, and weekly editorial planning meetings
    • Oversee newsletter development and deployment
  • Measurement and analytics
    • Work with web team to ensure smartcards are added to new blog posts
    • Analyze and utilize smartcard data to inform content plan
    • Use web dashboard analytics to compile monthly/quarterly blog readout reports

Skills required:

  • 2-5 years relevant experience in editing, and writing.
  • Strong experience writing blogs, editorial or other journalism-first content with the ability to effectively adjust tone, voice and communication style to build a variety of content for a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Master of details — easily coordinates communications activities with a large number of cross-functional stakeholders and multi-step approval workflows.
  • Proven experience as proof-reader and writing/editing on deadline and to guideline.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility and a positive, proactive approach.
  • Experience with Kapost content operations software or similar content management platform
  • Passion for storytelling is a must
