As a Clinical Applications Specialist supporting the Missouri territory in and around St. Louis, you will be trusted to become a clinical expert in Alcon’s current portfolio of devices to include LenSx, ORA, ARGOS, VERION and products added to the portfolio in the future as technology and business needs evolve. You will travel within the given territory and occasionally across the US to provide best-in-class training to customers (Surgeons and Staff) on the approved utilization of Alcon products to ensure safe and appropriate use for optimal patient outcomes.
In this dynamic role you will be trusted to:
- Provide technical and clinical training to maximize product utilization, upgrade opportunities, growth, and adoption of approved Alcon products.
- Pro-actively and strategically align their assigned territory’s clinical training needs with commercial business goals through collaborative Strategic Account Management principles.
- Interact closely with physicians, nurses, Operating Room and clinical staff to increase product and procedural knowledge, as well as satisfaction with the application and approved use of specified products.
- Deliver pre-sales and post-sales installation training, ensure successful installation, and support adoption of all equipment and software upgrades at clinical sites for all relevant devices.
- Provide clear, accurate, and timely documentation of each site visit via a standardized reporting mechanism (CRM Tool) within 48 hours of completion of the visit.
- Address reports of product problems and adverse events with Medical Safety. These reports may require root cause analysis and requests for feedback/input from physicians.
- Collaborate as One-Team with cross-functional associates including but not limited to FSEs, Commercial Team, Service Ops and Clinical Team to support customers on new installations, site support and troubleshooting pre and post install with Calibration Calls.
- Attend and assist / support with convention demonstrations, Medical Congresses, fellowships, conferences, exhibits, seminars, and wet-labs as requested and deemed appropriate by management per SOPs.
- Respond to unsolicited requests for information related to Alcon medical devices, per SOPs and Ethics and Compliance Guidelines.
Please note this position requires heavy travel, both by car and airplane, as well as nights in hotels away from home. The CAS will often encounter long layovers, flight delays, last minute changes in schedules, and can be required to work outside normal business hours, on weekends, and sometimes on holidays. This job is perfect for an independent and flexible professional who is not afraid of rolling with the punches!
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
Key Requirement/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 2 Years of Relevant Experience
Preferred Experience:
- Solid understanding of and experience with Biometry
- Background in clinical and surgical Ophthalmology
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent training and presentation skills
