Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Assuming you have eligible working rights and a sufficient time zone overlap with your team, you can choose to work remotely or return to an office as they reopen (unless it’s necessary for your role to be performed in the office). Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
With a timezone overlap with the team, we’re able to hire eligible candidates for this role from France, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
We’re looking for an experienced commercial transactions legal counsel to join our Go-To-Market Legal team in EMEA! As a member this team, you will draft and negotiate a variety of customer and partner facing contracts and related matters. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team to support strategic transactions for even faster growing global company.
Your future team
You will report to the Senior Commercial Counsel, EMEA Sales. Atlassian’s Legal Team is a valued and dynamic group. We are viewed as key partners in critical decision-making that impacts the entire company due to our practical and business-oriented advice and solutions. This small but mighty team is highly collaborative and supportive – we truly like working with each other and cheer on our teammates in all endeavors.
What you’ll do
- Become a member of our growing team in our Legal team supporting Atlassian’s go-to-market team.
- Provide pragmatic, creative guidance on contract-related issues with your business acumen. We’re not looking for academic analysis!
- Partner with our Go-To-Market team, and our privacy, security, finance and product teams, to drive customer deals to execution and design and support scalable processes for implementation.
- Negotiate enterprise cloud and license agreements, data processing agreements and other industry specific agreements for Atlassian’s products and services.
- Provide guidance and trainings to educate and enable our direct sales and channel teams on legal issues.
- Help with special internal projects, including projects focused on improving legal processes.

- You think creatively outside of the “legal” box to create possible solutions and options for the business, promoting risk-based recommendations.
- You enjoy communicating with the business and customers to help them understand and develop trust in the company.
On your first day, we’ll expect you to have:
- A law degree, preferably in one of EMEA jurisdictions. German (DACH) law knowledge and/or language skills is a preference.
- 4+ years of experience handling SaaS contract negotiations on international scale (DACH market experience is a big plus).
- Ability to handle data privacy topics and understanding revenue recognition and compliance matters in connection with commercial contracts.
- Passion for understanding and supporting our customers, products, culture, and business model.
- Ability and desire to handle competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to handle new areas of responsibility and grow.
- Strong communication skills, proactive, approachable and reliable.
