Primary Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a team of up to 3 developers and 2 QA engineers focused on performance and scale work
  • Be responsible for hiring, performance management, and professional development of direct reports
  • Be an active member of the team, developing features or performing QA depending on your focus. Technical work should account for 70% of your time
  • Perform weekly one-on-ones with each of your direct reports
  • Work closely with product leadership to provide a prioritized backlog of work that will optimize performance and scale across the product
  • Provide technical guidance, and mentorship to your team
  • Analyze the product and platform to identify practical technical solutions that will provide the highest value that will meet our performance and scale objectives for enterprise customers
  • Participate in all aspects of the development process
  • Provide regular, direct feedback to reports to continuously grow their skills
  • Align with Engineering leadership to provide a technical roadmap that meets performance and scale focused initiatives
  • Interact with individuals and teams across the company as needed
  • Constantly strive to optimize the team for efficient execution
  • Be the leader for introducing innovation and development best practices to the team

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years working experience optimizing scale and performance for multi-tenant cloud and on-prem applications
  • Primarily backend expertise: Java, Spring, Hibernate, RDBMS
  • Working experience in site reliability is a plus
  • Experience with Docker
  • Experience with CI/CD (Team City, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Working experience with modern version control systems (Git)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience optimizing and tuning Performance of monolithic enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with creating and maintaining load test scripts
  • Experience working on a scrum team within an agile process
  • Bonus: Experience with Elasticsearch and Monolithic applications
  • Bonus: Experience with Scala and Python

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working with a diverse employee base across remote and local environments
