What Is Employee Growth Rate & Why Is It Important?

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will support all departments to manage risk while helping advance business objectives. You are a legal generalist, with a deep understanding of corporate, employment, intellectual property and privacy laws, who knows when to seek external counsel. You will manage and mentor one direct report with the opportunity to build out a bigger team in the future as the company grows. Initially, this is a player/coach role with an emphasis on the player function.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Negotiate commercial contracts
  • Advise and assist HR with employment matters
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with intellectual property, privacy and other applicable regulations
  • Provide legal advice to the business and its leaders as needed
  • Advise on the legal implications of company policies and procedures
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify areas of risk across the business and develop mitigation strategies in partnership with the business
  • Manage and mentor direct report
  • Develop and maintain external counsel relationships and engage as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • JD and membership in good standing in at least one state bar
  • 5+ years relevant experience, including, ideally, some experience in-house at a startup or technology company
  • Substantive experience and a high level of proficiency with:
    • General corporate law
    • Intellectual property law
    • Privacy regulations
    • Employment law
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Substantial expertise on CCPA, GDPR, EU Standard Contractual Clauses and data-privacy across various jurisdictions
  • Ability to communicate complex legal issues in a clear and concise manner
