In 2019, immigrants worldwide sent over $550 billion home to family and friends, dwarfing foreign governmental aid. In the age of cheap, quick transfers through services like Paypal and Venmo, these people are trekking to stores to pay fees averaging over 7% for transfers that typically take 24 hours or more.
Sendwave’s mission is to change that by making sending money anywhere in the world easy and affordable. Since 2014, our app has allowed diaspora members from across Africa — and more recently the Philippines and Lebanon— to send money abroad fast, saving our users over 70% relative to Western Union and MoneyGram.

How you’ll help us achieve it
The HR Generalist will support Sendwave’s business by owning frontline employee relations issues, including code-of-conduct violations, performance improvement plans, attendance violations, and misconduct investigations.
In this role, you will:
- Provide employee relations support across the business
- Develop and continuously improve and update HR policies and procedures
- Proactively keep employment law knowledge up to date as legislation changes
- Identify trends and patterns that inform manager training and other pro-active interventions
- Alert and escalate in a timely manner any high risk cases or non conformation of process
- Undertake HR admin activities such as, but not limited to, onboarding, sick absence management, performance management, and investigations

- Compensation: Global: $61,800 – US: $77,191
- Location: Our company is 100% remote. You can be based anywhere in the the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal or South Africa. We will consider contractors in countries not listed on a case-by-case basis.

Requirements
- At least two years in generalist HR/ER or legal background
- Good data analytics skill
- Ability to work autonomously
