We are looking for a well-rounded individual that has experience with many different application infrastructure technologies and Capacity Management. Someone who likes the challenge of learning new technologies, and then developing architectures and designs for those new technologies. Someone who will work directly with key stakeholders to define problems, determine solutions, and ensure capacity and performance. Responsibilities
The Lead Infrastructure Architect conducts supply/demand, trend analyses and makes proactive capacity planning recommendations to mitigate risk and rationalize the optimal amount of hardware, software and network resources to meet business needs, service level requirements and IT infrastructure growth capacity. Ensures that capacity workload modeling and availability analysis is performed for a variety of platforms and environments
Performs technical planning, architecture development and modification of specifications. Develops specifications for new IT infrastructure products and service offerings. Assesses the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision. Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7 or more years of infrastructure experience
- 4 or more years of leadership experience
- Experience integrating new technologies with existing technologies, and implementing with enterprise-wide impact
- Experience with managing capacity within the VMWare infrastructure (VCenter)
- Experience with managing capacity within the VMWare infrastructure with VCenter Operations Manager
- Experience with SPECint
- Experience with container platform and image support
- Experience with multiple web server platforms
- Experience in Windows and Linux
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a Technical Field
- Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-900, AZ-104)
- VMWare DCV 5.0 or higher certification
- Experience in Turbonomic
- Experience in Power BI
- VMware Application Modernization Certification (VCP-AM)
- Experience in Networking and Load Balancing
- Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry – Enterprise Pivotal Container Service (Enterprise PKS) – VMware Tanzu Application Service (TAS)
- Experience with moving container applications between platforms, cloud and on-prem.
Accountabilities
- Manage Capacity for large virtualized environments including Citrix and VDI platforms
- Oversee implementation of new Infrastructure deployment; ensuring Humana standards are enforced
- Work directly with internal customers to ensure Capacity and Performance of the Infrastructure for Critical Applications
- Work directly with Platform teams and provide guidance for hardware refresh and obsolescence activities
- Support of various Container Platforms
- Multiple web server platforms (IIS, Apache, Weblogic, WebSphere, TomCat, etc)
- VMWare Tanzu
- Automation and Configuration technologies (Puppet, Ansible Tower, PowerShell, etc)
- Researching technologies and advancing enterprise efforts
- Working tickets and escalation requests
- Participate in major outages when needed
Experience with these technologies desired:
- VMWare
- Turbonomic
- PowerBI
- Microsoft Azure or other cloud providers
- Infrastructure automation (Perl/ Python / Powershell / Bash / Ansible / Terraform / YAML)
- Azure DevOps
- Linux and Windows operating systems
- Hardware load balancers and networking (Citrix Netscaler, NSXT )
- External Domain Management and DNS
- Container support (platform and images) – VMWare Tanzu Application services, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, PKS (Pivotal), AKS (Azure), GKS (Google), EKS (Amazon), etc.
