What Is Employee Growth Rate & Why Is It Important?

In order to serve our 3 billion plus (and growing) users across some of the most popular apps in the world including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp and invest in metaverse, we need to speed up to scale our global infrastructure at an incredible pace. The Capacity Engineering & Analysis team is seeking a dynamic, highly cross functional leader to work across all of Engineering and many business teams at Meta to enable us to sustainably and reliably scale our infrastructure as our usage continues to increase and we launch new products.We are seeking a technology leader to join this mission critical team to lead and grow a team of high caliber engineers who own strategic and tactical planning and optimization of all aspects of Meta infrastructure. This team delivers that through development of software, mathematical optimization capabilities, and planning and operational processes to enable efficient growth and manage tradeoffs at the intersection of our software services and physical infrastructure for the entire Meta production fleet. You will lead our most strategic and high visibility planning processes and drive fleet-wide optimization efforts. You will collaborate closely with a large variety of partners across many technical and business teams including infrastructure partner teams, data center operations, supply chain, software engineering, Finance.Help build one of the largest Internet services in the world with tens of billions of user requests, hundreds of exabytes of data, and thousands of Gbps of network flow!

Manager, Strategic Planning & Optimization, Capacity Engineering & Analysis Responsibilities:

  • Own strategic and tactical infrastructure capacity planning, scaling, and management for the largest web capacity in the world across all Meta products and services including Instagram and WhatsApp.
  • Develop and expand a world-class team of capacity/performance engineers through mentorship, guidance and career development.
  • Own the development of next generation mathematical optimization models/tools to automate capacity life-cycle management at scale.
  • Lead strategic initiatives to improve efficiency, optimize costs, and improve capacity fulfillment to power product growth and business priorities.
  • Lead partnerships with a broad variety of teams including Data Center Construction & Operations, Network Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems & Tooling, Supply Chain, and Finance to optimize how we manage and scale all aspects of Meta infrastructure.
  • Drive strategic and tactical tradeoff decisions for how we scale our infrastructure to support our most critical business goals and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience leading mid-sized teams.
  • Understanding of large-scale distributed infrastructure to support a global internet business.
  • 15+ years of experience working in a technology company building large scale software systems and/or planning and managing infrastructure capacity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with managing a budget or P&L, and/or metrics (Reliability metrics, etc.)
  • Experience working on ambiguous problems and managing uncertainty at a high-growth company
  • Experience with mathematical optimization and solvers
  • BS, MS, or PHD in an engineering or highly analytical field such as computer science, industrial engineering, operations research
