Come join our Accounting team

Our Accounting team is committed to ensuring accurate and compliant finance practices. We partner with all internal Karat teams and support clients throughout the world by prioritizing operational excellence and consistency.

What you will do

As Payroll & Commission Accountant at Karat, you will be responsible for processing the company’s payroll, ensuring overall compliance and accuracy.

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analyses as it relates to company payroll, payroll tax, benefits, commission, and bonus plans, ensuring compliance with company policy, GAAP, and internal controls.
  • Coordinate with various teams and Karat’s Senior Revenue Accountant to calculate and submit sales commission and performance-based bonuses for approval and payment.
  • Manage all payroll system interfaces, identifying and implementing process or system improvements as needed.
  • Partner closely with accounting and people operations to implement and maintain proper payroll procedures for ensuring compliance with tax, company policy and internal controls.
  • Complete special projects, ad-hoc reporting or other general duties as assigned.

The experience you will bring

  • 3+ years of experience working in payroll accounting for mid-to-large size tech organizations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Paylocity preferred, knowledge of Xactly and Sage Intacct is a plus
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), organizational skills, and attention-to-detail
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

This is a full-time, salaried position. Immigration sponsorship is not available.

Karat is a remote company with employees throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. For this position, we are only considering individuals based in the United States with preference in the greater Chicago area.
