What Is Employee Growth Rate & Why Is It Important?
At Elastic, we see endless possibility in a world of endless data. And we use the power of search to help people and organizations turn that possibility into results. Elastic is the leading platform for search-powered solutions. With solutions in Enterprise Search, Observability, and Security, we help improve customer and employee search experiences, keep critical applications running smoothly, and protect against cyber threats. Elastic enables organizations worldwide to use the power of Elastic, including Netflix, Uber, BBC, Microsoft, and thousands of others.
Elastic was built on a foundation of being free and open, which trickles down to how we work. We’re a distributed organization and have been from the beginning. Being distributed isn’t just a way of doing business-it’s a mentality that is at the core of our culture.
The Platform SRE Capacity team’s purpose is ensuring customers have reliable access to our SaaS infrastructure while optimizing for cost-effectiveness. We are looking for people interested in designing and building intelligent software solutions that maximize the efficiency necessary to scale a large, multi-Cloud platform.
What you will be doing:
In this role you will:
- Be a part of the Platform SRE Capacity team, using Software Engineering to design intelligent algorithms that solve challenging infrastructure scaling problems in a Cloud-agnostic way.
- Maintain large-scale capacity across multiple Cloud Service Providers, working with future capacity needs or responding to emergent needs.
- Greenfield cost management solutions with the support of cross functional teams, working together on a shared roadmap.
- Collaborate with other Elastic Platform Engineering teams on cross-team projects and initiatives.
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes by being an active member in our communities of practice.
- Participate in our follow-the-sun on-call rotation where coverage falls predominantly during your normal working hours.
What you bring along:
- You may be a Software Engineer with exposure to Linux systems, networking, monitoring and automation; or an experienced Sysadmin or Systems Engineer with experience in distributed systems at scale (Linux), and a demonstrable interest and experience in using software engineering approaches to solve operational problems.
- You have contributed to codebases while creating solutions, preferably in Go.
- You have contributed to or led deliverables which involve integrating APIs – especially if you’ve worked with Azure, GCP or AWS API’s.
- You have experience using at least one Public Cloud: AWS, GCP, Azure, SoftLayer or OpenStack.
- You are a strong communicator that thrives with a distributed team and actively seeks mentoring others.
