Job Summary:

The Regional Marketing Manager is the marketing and communications partner, strategist, and project manager for an assigned region. This person will serve as the connection between local marketing and communications driven through Techstars accelerators in a specific region and global marketing and communications efforts, working with various divisions of the Techstars business. They will lead the development and introduction of regional marketing and communications strategies, intended to build and accelerate brand recognition and influence for Techstars. This person will also be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with media and program staff in their region, providing strategic oversight and council, designing end-to-end marketing communication activities aligned with global marketing and communications efforts and accelerator teams, and providing tools and resources to help accelerator program teams execute successful local efforts.. They will drive excellence by designing data-driven marketing and PR strategies that support business objectives and generate net positive outcomes for the brand. The Marketing Manager will also determine how to cascade Techstars’ overall strategic objectives for their region and ensure effective, relevant and consistent stories, content, messages, tone, and style.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing and communications programs that translate Techstars’ global  brand strategy regionally and build brand awareness and influence  in respective region 
  • Support the marketing team in identifying relevant and compelling story ideas throughout region and across the Techstars portfolio and accelerator programs; generate media coverage and create content in support of Techstars’ regional and global marketing and communications goals and strategy 
  • Build and maintain strong media relationships
  • Create and manage new market roll out and marketing and communication launch plans for our growing, global accelerator footprint 
  • Provide resources and templates to enable program teams to  execute successful accelerator-related marketing and communications, including application open, class announcement, Demo Day, joint corporate partner activities and additional news 
  • Manage regional agency, contractor, vendor relationships in support of marketing activities
  • Implement data-driven processes and systems for tracking campaign and marketing initiatives success 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years professional experience in public relations, marketing communications 
  • Bilingual (business-level fluency in English and either French or German – all three a plus)
  • Comfortable and effective in working with a variety of leaders across the business and among various external stakeholder groups 
  • Strong interest in the discourse around technology, startups, entrepreneurship and venture capital
  • Driven and self-motivated, comfortable with working collaboratively and independently to drive initiatives and execute
  • Understanding of the region and how to effectively build a brand pan-regionally, with consideration for local market nuances
  • Experience successfully working with media and managing social media presence and engagement; regional media contacts
  • Working knowledge of marketing and communications measurement strategies
  • Working knowledge of marketing automation tools, marketing and PR tracking tools, social media tools and basic Google suite
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills required
  • Must be flexible and able to manage multiple projects and personalities 
  • Periodic travel required
