What Is Employee Growth Rate & Why Is It Important?


Are you interested in joining a program rapidly growing its depth and breadth in addressing responsible materials sourcing? The Responsible Materials team seeks to identify, mitigate, and eliminate human rights risks in our supply chain tied to material sourcing. The Responsible Materials Analyst role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and acting upon data gathered from our suppliers via annual mineral reporting surveys during the survey reporting season (approx. September through February), and for developing and executing GM’s responsible materials strategy during the non-reporting season.

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.


  • Collect, analyze, and act upon data collected through mineral reporting surveys
  • Provide feedback to suppliers based on the content of their survey submissions
  • Conduct outreach to delinquent suppliers to increase response rate
  • Collaborate with third-party partners to develop responsible materials efficacy across automotive and other industries
  • Collaborate with global non-profits to address the community-level impacts of responsible materials sourcing
  • Manage and optimize the administrative processes associated with responsible materials
  • Research, propose, and implement strategies to expand the responsible materials program to target new minerals

Additional Description


  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • Preferred (not required): Experience in Conflict Minerals, Ethical Sourcing, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or other related areas
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams
  • Professional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical skills and the ability to prioritize actions given simultaneous projects and inputs
  • Ability to work well in an environment with high ambiguity and a balance between times of self-direction and team structured work
  • Initiative to become experts in the responsible sourcing of new minerals and communicate back to leadership

FOR GM INTERNAL CANDIDATES: This role is posted at both the 6th and 7th level within the GPSC organization. The determination by HR and the Hiring Manager as to whether an offer will be lateral or promotional will be based on a candidate’s relevant experience as well as whether the role will amount to a significant increase in level of responsibility.
