What will you do?

Over the past 10 years, Sealed and its co-founder, Andy Frank, have demonstrated an ability to re-imagine what it means to invest in home energy efficiency. Sealed has transformed how traditionally “boring” technologies like insulation and HVAC are sold, making it easy and affordable for homeowners to have more comfort with less energy. Sealed is now in a position to expand our impact and need your help!

Andy is now building a new innovation function that will define and validate future areas of business growth. As the Senior Innovation Analyst, you will work with and report directly to Andy to create this new function.

As the first full-time member of the Sealed innovation team, you will set the precedent for how Sealed continues to expand our impact into new markets, products, and services. This new innovation function will identify and validate opportunities that exist outside of our business today but have the potential to drive significant growth in the years ahead. Specifically, you will:

  • Execute key innovation activities including market research, business case modeling, product specification, and testing. Market research may include product and/or customer research through a variety of methodologies, such as qualitative interviews with customers and partners as well as validation of insights via market data and surveys
  • Lead cross-functional teams and projects
  • Straddle the micro and macro strategy and respective details
  • Build a business case for new innovations by modeling the market size, unit economics, and growth potential
  • Collaborate with other internal teams to build and test minimal viable products

The ideal candidate will combine analytic rigor with creativity, excellent communications skills, and persistent follow-through.
What success looks like

Our success at Sealed is in large part due to our ability to identify and execute upon market opportunities:

  • In 2016, we launched the first performance financing product in the residential energy efficiency market – enabling a new kind of business model built on stopping energy waste.
  • In 2018, we launched the first remote sales process for home weatherization improvements, which transformed our ability to scale homeowner conversations.
  • In 2020, we launched the first direct to consumer heat pump package that more than doubled our average value per customer while accelerating our mission to stop home energy waste and electrify all homes.

In 2022 and beyond, you will help identify a new generation of transformational opportunities that have the potential to dramatically accelerate our impact on climate change, and invest in clean, comfortable, and healthy homes. At the end of the day, success in this role is validating at least two opportunities per year that have the potential to transform our business.

Day-to-day success as a Senior Innovation Analyst means sourcing, vetting, and demonstrating growth opportunities that have the potential to meaningfully accelerate our growth in the years ahead.

  • Source: Identify and quantify promising innovation opportunities that have the potential to significantly expand the Sealed product market fit.
  • Vet: Determine which opportunities are viable for our business today or tomorrow with bullet proof business cases, and define the key open questions that must be addressed.
  • Demonstrate: Define, build, and execute a Minimal Viable Product (MVP) that provides a proof of concept that can be handed off for operational partners to scale.

Requirements

Must have:

  • 2-5 years of total work experience
  • 2+ years of management consulting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to think and operate cross functionally
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to learn new skills and technology quickly
