Job Summary:
The Product Management Platform (PMP) Team is responsible for building out the next generation platform for users to define, design and orchestrate new protection products with the new Affordable Simple Connected ecosystem. As a member of an agile engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering full stack functionality across all technical areas across PMP. This includes working with Product Owners and Product Managers to analyze, design and plan for features and functionality as requested by our customers.
Full stack developers follow the 12-factor principles to build out products through continuous enhancements through a full stack of software capabilities, developing and implementing frontends and backend services. He/she leverages test driven development, CI/CD, and Allstate developed tools and frameworks to ensure of the timely delivery of high-quality products. He/she actively participates in the decision-making process of the team ensuring that the most appropriate technology and relevant design is chosen to meet user needs with maintainability and reusability.
Key Responsibilities:
Possess the technical capabilities to quickly integrate with a CompoZed team and become familiar with the technical working environment with minimal supervision
Evaluate and make recommendations on all technical aspects of the software delivery lifecycle – including critical architectural platform decisions – to achieve the desired delivery velocity with high quality outcomes in a self-directed and self-managed manner
Collaborate closely with principal engineers to make critical technical decisions and create architectural templates, tools and frameworks to ensure the adherence to specific design strategies and methodologies while reducing the cost of adoption for other team members
Adhere to and promote principles of 12 factor apps, including key areas of concern such as availability, scalability, maintainability and security
Mentor more junior members of the software engineering team with a goal to impart critical knowledge and skills required to deliver resilient and maintainable solutions more effectively
Drive and own all phases of software engineering work from inception and throughout the CI/CD lifecycle
Recognize, evolve and adapt technical approaches to problem solving as the business and computing landscape changes
Maintain positive outlook in handling continuous change and bring a sense of urgency in driving positive change at Allstate
Participates in iteration planning meetings ensuring that the team has a common understanding of each story and chores in a team’s backlog
Participates in daily site, cross-site, and product team standups
Participates in retrospectives to gather feedback and derive actionable items to improve the team and the product
Participate in executing the strategy, keeping the customer needs and wants in mind
Job Qualifications:
A college degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or STEM field, including a solid understanding of Computer Science and Software Engineering fundamentals
8+ years of software engineering experience in complex enterprise environments
Solid experience in Java and similar OOP languages along with the following: Spring, Javascript, AngularJS or ReactJS, Relational and NoSQL Databases
Strong understanding and effective implementation experience of design patterns, data structures, data persistence, UI frameworks, software and object-oriented design principles along with creating architectural solutions to enable and enforce these principles during implementation
Experience in developing software in different programming languages and across various paradigms with the ability to quickly understand how new concepts and approaches would impact the system architecture, existing delivery methodologies and operational excellence
Solid understanding on agile development fundamentals along with key development and productivity tools associated with this methodology

Compensation offered for this role is $100,400.00-$159,575.00 per year and is based on experience and qualifications.
