Position Summary:
As the Sr Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics you will be a key member of the leadership to establish a world-class Advanced Analytics practice at Pax8 delivering intelligent insights. Your skills and expertise will play a key role in building and maturing modern data analytics capabilities, establishing data informed decision-making culture by creating and optimizing tools, reports, and dashboards used to help drive marketing and sales effectiveness, as well as improve operational excellence throughout the company.
You will assess and optimize fully automated BI reporting tools to support business users and executives in making better decisions using data. Your focus will include building a new analytics team and capabilty, developing critical reporting datasets in the data warehouse, define stakeholder data consumption use-cases and tailor distribution of the insights via interactive dashboards, discoverable data marts, static push reporting to support all levels of the company including executive management and customer facing sales and support teams.
The Sr Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics role interfaces regularly with the Engineering/Development team and works closely with business leaders throughout the organization (particularly Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Finance)
Essential Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):
- Responsible for recruiting, developing, mentoring and retaining talent and ensuring the data analytics staff has the skills and capabilities to meet current and future business needs
- Responsible for designing, building, and operating a comprehensive modern data platform to collect data, analyze data, and derive consumable insights that improve end-user experience and drive Pax8’s competitive edge
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand their business needs; framing business questions in analytic terms and translating business requirements into datasets, analyses, models, reports, and uses data visualization and storytelling skills to effectively communicate insights and influence decision/outcomes to leadership.
- Continue the evolution of citizen data capabilities, productize data insights, allowing business teams to easily pull together data from disparate sources and find correlations and tell a comprehensive BI story for operational productivity and financial benefits
- Demonstrated hands on experience in BI techniques, tools, and operational applicability such as Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Thoughtspot, Sisense, Snowflake, Redshift etc
- Lead and define the vision, strategy and roadmap of modern data analytics & business intelligence capabilities, outcomes and resourcing
- Drive data proficiency throughout the organization through the creation of standardized metrics, intuitive dashboards, data dictionaries, and compelling business insights
- Cultivate effective and balanced self-service analytics, empowering the Pax8 culture to answer questions easily and consistently with powerful insights
- Establish appropriate data governance, including an ownership model that defines central and functional responsibilities
Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
- A strong business acumen paired with exceptional technical, analytical and actionable business insights skills
- Proven experience building relationships with business stakeholders, and using those relationships to help solve their business challenges
- Demonstrated competency in delivering business insights and results leveraging predictive analytics tools, algorithms, models with an AI/ML focus
- Requires Bachelor's degree in information management, data science/analytics or similar fields and 15 years of overall experience working with data and information management tools
- Must have strong knowledge of modern data cataloging tools, Big Data environments, cloud based Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning platforms and practical experience creating such environments and delivering on business ROI
- Knowledge and experience in implementing enterprise data warehousing
- Knowledge of data visualization and industry leading tools
- Knowledge of master data management processes and requirements as it relates to data and analytics
- Experience establishing and maturing data analytics competencies including Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive and prescriptive competencies
- 8+ years of experience managing technical teams
- Experience in data intensive high technology field with a track record of helping teams scale fast
- Strong leadership skills and managing, mentoring, and developing technical teams
- Command of programming languages (SQL, Python, DAX) development experience (time intelligence, table functions, scalar functions)
- Experience working in cloud hosting platforms such as AWS and Azure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent listening skills; high EQ
- Ability to apply sound business judgment
Compensation:
- Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $175,000 or more depending on experience
