Job summary
The Ring Senior Engineer, Carrier Programs is responsible for establishing the technical environments, relationships and tools for testing, monitoring and managing the complex suite of customer facing Ring security services with focus on the residential ISP and Mobile carrier level as well as industry wireless vendors. The right candidate has experience working cross functionally both internally and externally to manage change and detect/solve deeply complex issues for customers. You have a full stack experience with keen focus on streaming application protocols and an expert level knowledge in wired and wireless network protocol design and troubleshooting at packet level.
Key job responsibilities
• Own all technical aspects of measuring and maintaining performance of Ring services on a residential and mobile provider level including performance monitoring, analytics, diagnostics and improvement.
• Technical SME providing input to CS troubleshooting documentation on network and carrier specific level
• Development the software tools and programs as necessary to simulate, automate and constantly improve Ring services over carrier networks.
• Implement service monitoring tools, drive data ingestion efforts and develop customer experience performance monitoring/alerting in Splunk at carrier level
• Technical liaison and single point of contact with ISP and vendor partners
• Interface operationally on a technical level with engineering and development groups, maintaining end to end consideration in service impact across multiple layers
• Key part of constant improvement process. Recommending and implementing solutions to mitigate repeat issues and early detection
• Communicate/escalate issues to appropriate functional areas with supporting evidence from application event logs, service trend data etc.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
4+ years of professional software development experience
3+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
2+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
Experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team
• 4+ years experience in wired and wireless network engineering and associated protocols at packet level • 1+ years of experience search, report, and dashboard development expertise using Splunk Enterprise or writing complex SQL queries to identify patterns in data and production issues
