What Is Employee Growth Rate & Why Is It Important?

Clubhouse is a new type of social product based on voice. It allows people everywhere to talk, tell stories, develop ideas, deepen friendships, and meet interesting new people around the world.

Our early users love the product and we have been featured in publications like The New York Times, Forbes, The Telegraph, TechCrunch, CNBC, and WIRED. Today, we are a small and productive team with a strong background in consumer products. We are well funded, with recent backing from top-tier VCs and many of the best angel investors from Silicon Valley and beyond.

The Role

Clubhouse is looking for its first Strategic Finance hire!  As a founding member of the Finance team, you’ll have the opportunity to partner across the organization to ensure we are optimally allocating resources, efficiently building for rapid growth, and influencing better decision making through thoughtful and timely analysis.

This role will report to our Head of Finance.  During the pandemic, we are working remotely. This role will be open to both local and US-based, remote candidates.  We will have an office in San Francisco when we are able to safely reopen our office for those who prefer to work in person.

Who you are

You are experienced.  You have 6+ years of experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, investment banking or a similar environment.  You have previously worked at a high growth startup and know what “best in class” Finance looks like at scale.  From financial modeling to capital allocation to strategic analysis — you are skilled and experienced across a variety of finance disciplines.

You have a track record of influencing company strategy.  You proactively perform strategic analysis and make recommendations that shape the future of the business.  You are a trusted thought leader with your business partners.  You take a first principles approach to solving challenges to arrive at the best outcomes for our business.

You are a world class financial modeler.  You are an excel wizard that knows keyboard shortcuts like the back of your hand.  You quickly build scalable, organized and clear financial models.  You enjoy building from the ground up and are not intimidated by starting from a “blank” spreadsheet.  You constantly look for ways to make your models more efficient and accurate.

You make sense out of chaos.  You are an expert at synthesizing large volumes of data and complex analysis into concise and actionable takeaways.  You actively tailor your messaging to resonate with your target audience.  You are energized by the statement “less is more.”

You bias towards action.  You favor practical choices, speed and a respect for sequencing.  You focus on the things that matter and push back on things that don’t.  You make deadlines for yourself and you move fast.

You’re scrappy and entrepreneurial.  You thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable with not knowing the answer to something.  You are willing to roll up your sleeves no matter what the challenge is.

You take pride in what you do.  You care deeply about your work.  If something seems off, you come up with a good solution and fix it without being asked to do so.  You’re proactive with suggestions and people know they can count on you to get things done.

What you will do

You’ll own our financial model.  You’ll build and manage our first financial operating model from the ground up.  The model will serve as a compass that we’ll leverage to inform major financial decisions like resource  planning and our financing strategy.  You’ll actively look for ways to make the model more efficient and accurate.

You’ll facilitate our planning process.  You’ll develop and facilitate our planning process while ensuring that our strategy aligns with our investment allocation.  You’ll actively monitor performance against our plan and proactively highlight risks and opportunities.

You’ll define and measure ROI.  You’ll partner across the business to define and measure ROI in key investment areas such as marketing and infrastructure.  You’ll develop frameworks that empower business partners to move faster while being fiscally responsible.

You’ll influence company strategy.  You firmly believe that Finance is a strategic function and will proactively perform analysis and make recommendations that shape the future of the business.  From enabling creator monetization to financing strategy to vendor negotiations — you seamlessly transition across operational and strategic workstreams.

You’ll implement scalable systems and processes.  You’ll partner with Accounting to build our financial foundation that will allow the business to effectively scale while enabling timely and accurate financials.  You’ll carefully launch processes, systems and policies that increase predictability and control while not slowing the business down.

You’ll grow and improve rapidly.  At Clubhouse you’ll be working with an incredible team, who love to learn from and teach each other.  You’ll find yourself stretching to new areas, immersed in feedback, challenged by your teammates, and growing your skills on a daily basis.
