Job summary
The Technical Vendor Manager is responsible for managing the critical path schedule of Consultants and General Contractors (GC) with the objective of finding, securing and gaining increased value from our vendors and accelerate our end-to-end project timing. The individual will build and maintain relationships with the vendors and support in developing their capacities and capabilities to efficiently deliver high-quality projects safely, on time and within the defined budget.

Successful candidates will have strong level of ownership and be highly motivated individuals who have a wide Project Management experience within the construction industry. The role will understand the details of Amazon buildings and will deep dive on key construction partners by working in close collaboration with consultants and General Contractors and internal stakeholders such as Procurement, Pre-construction and Construction.

You should be a passionate self-starter decisive and able to move with speed to implement ideas and have the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You should be, highly analytical, resourceful and customer focused. You should have proven experience in the engineering and construction industry and a proven track record of delivering results in fast-paced and dynamic business environments while managing the sometimes-conflicting needs of different groups of stakeholders.

The role will be based in Italy with 30% of time traveling either domestically or to other EMEA countries.

Key job responsibilities
• Develop and maintain the GC & Consultant Procurement Strategy together with Procurement Team
• Collect and sync feedback on Developer, GCs and Consultants by monitoring performance throughout the project lifecycle
• Assist Pre-construction Manager during GC procurement and RE Transaction Manager during Developer procurement
• Work with external vendors and internal teams to deliver CAPEX projects safely, on time and on cost
• Lead technical program reviews and drive schedule acceleration, cost savings
• Deep dive on technical details and lead problem-resolution on a need basis
• Communicate project status, drive and elevate decision making and help requests. Lead critical path schedule items and escalate to leadership on potential risks and delays
• Be a business partner with the Procurement, Pre-Construction and Construction teams, drive execution of commercial and technical deliverables
• Work very closely with Pre-construction/Construction/Project Delivery Teams and support on General Contractor & Consultancy sourcing
• Coordinate information between various teams in the organization
• Turn in-depth analysis into strategic insight, present these in convincing figures providing inputs for turning them into action and supporting execution
• Seek out ways and provide inputs to automate and simplify processes in order to improve productivity

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• University degree in civil engineering or architecture
• Proven project management, construction or engineering experience
• Relevant experience in Retail, Consulting or Construction Company
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical skills with aptitude for figures and data-driven argumentation
• Proficient in written and spoken English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Cross functional experience, especially finance, procurement, planning, cost control or project management
• Excellent knowledge of Excel and database work
• Experiences in contract management or tender management will be considered a plus
• Past experiences in technical/management roles on construction sites will be considered a plus
• German, Italian, French, Polish, Arabic are considered preferred qualification
